Neveah sighed in exasperation as she tapped the side of her ankle with her hands for the eleventh time. She's been diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome since the age of eight, and apparently you can have other disorders along with it, and she had OCD. She'd constantly have to repeat certain, simple rituals until she felt as if it were correct. Today, she'd been trying to lace up her shoes so she could practice a little alone, early, before everyone else came to practice, but the constant ritual wouldn't allow her to. After she'd finally tapped her ankle with her hands about fifteen more times, she was finally released from the grasp of said urge, so she quickly began lacing up her shoes before the feeling returned. Standing up from the bench, Neveah clicked her tongue a few times, one of her many involuntary tics, before picking up the basketball awaiting her. She practiced dribbling, shooting, and a few half court shots before the bell rang, and students piled into the gym before she could even look towards the door.

A familiar, obnoxiously loud laugh rang through the gym, making her groan a little. It was him: Tyler. He hadn't seemed to notice her at first, and she was glad, because she didn't need any of his remarks today. "Alright, class," the coach walked into the room, and hearing his voice made Neveah get into place. They had a huge gym, so the boys' and girls' basketball teams would practice on each side of the room. The boys were lined up on one side, and the girls on the other, facing each other. Unfortunately, Tyler caught a glance of Neveah, rolling his eyes at her to make it obvious that he was annoyed by her presence. Neveah narrowed her eyes at him for just a second, before paying attention to whatever the coach said. He was not going to ruin today for her, but unfortunately that's where she was wrong, because her coach was saying something that she didn't really catch, and then she saw the nuisance walking over to her.

"Neveah."

Neveah blinked. "Huh?"

"Come on. We on the same team," Tyler didn't even much look at her. She was glad. But fuck- what? There's no way they were on the same team.

"Wait- what are we doing?" Neveah asked.

"Damn, do you never pay attention in class?" Tyler scoffed. Neveah ignored him.

"We're playing. Four on each team, and we got paired with Rakim and Jasper," Tyler explained, seeing as he got no response from her.

Fuck. And it wasn't good because Kali was on the opposing team, as well as another girl and two boys. Damn. She was the only girl on her team. While she was pretty good, Tyler would probably annoy the fuck out of her.

"I can't believe I-" Neveah clicks her tongue and throws her head back a little mid-sentence; Tyler notices, "-got paired with your annoying ass," she sighs. "Well maybe if you'd stop doing that weird shit, we'll win," Tyler  flashed a sarcastic smile, making Neveah roll her eyes.

"You know damn well I ain't got no control with it," Neveah spat.

"I care?" Tyler moved in front of her, "get on the court, nigga."

Neveah glared, standing at a ready position as she watched Tyler and Kali do the tip-off. Tyler, being taller, was able to hit the ball to Jasper, who ran and dribbled, tossing it to Rakim who tried to make a shot, but the ball bounced off the rim, fortunately, into Tyler's hands. The squeaking of everyone's shoes was loud, but tolerable. The male students that weren't playing crazily cheered for Tyler, of course. Neveah clicked her tongue and whistled, going to block one of the opposing team players, but Tyler cut right in fucking front of her, shoving her roughly without an apology, making her fall to the ground. The boys' team cheers increased in volume as Tyler successfully dunked the basketball.
Rakim seemed to notice her on the floor and rushed over.

"Ay, you good?" He reached a hand out.

She nodded, dismissing his hand as she supported herself with her hands, standing up. Rakim awkwardly put his hand down, nodding once.

"I saw what he did," He tried to make a little conversation.

"It doesn't matter," Neveah dismissed it, looking up at him. She never noticed how attractive he was until now.

"Well, let me know if he pulls that weird shit again," Rakim smiled.

"What y'all niggas doing?" Tyler's loud obnoxious ass voice called to them, "we not fucking done."

Neveah sighed. Rakim gave her an encouraging look.

{ . . . }

The game was over, and so was gym. Everyone started packing up their things. Neveah decided to confront Tyler about the weird shit he pulled. Spotting him, alone, packing his things as Jasper and Rakim waited for him by the door, she approached him.

"What yo weird ass want?" He noticed her immediately.

"What the fuck was that shit?" Neveah crossed her arms.

"What was what?" Tyler grinned stupidly.

"You know what the fuck I mean, Tyler," she glared.

Tyler just smiled, "gotta be the top player somehow," he said.

"So you fucking shoved me? And we were on the same team?" She was growing frustrated, clicking her tongue a few times, which Tyler found amusing, by his facial expression.

"What? You want an apology or some shit?"

Neveah stared at him with an angry expression.

"Oh my God- my bad, Neveah. My sincerest fucking apologies. I'm so sorry that it hurt your soul so much," Tyler was completely sarcastic as he slung his bag over his shoulder, making his way to the door where his friends were talking, completely unaware of the whole dispute.

"Maybe if you could stop making them weird ass sounds, you could actually pay attention. If you actually watched your surroundings, I probably wouldn't have hit you," Tyler mused, making his way to the door.

Neveah wanted to fucking go off on him, right in front of his friends, too, but that shit wouldn't be worth it. All Tyler would do is make some annoying ass insult or joke, or just fucking laugh in her face. God, he was so annoying.
