I enter Dr Green's office, and I have to admit he isn't the cleanest person around. I hate to judge him without knowing him, but there's no way I can focus on filing in this mess. I'll need to clear up, fast, so that I can still do what Dr Roberts asked, but also to make sure I'm able to give it the attention it needs.
Hopefully Dr Roberts won't be too mad at me.
I clear a chair, and place my bag down. When I spot his bin, I begin cleaning. I don't want to mess anything up by moving things, so I try to be extremely careful when I clean. I don't touch his desk drawers, as that's invasive even for what I'm doing, but definitely want to clear the mess. I can only hope that they—Dr Green and Dr Roberts—won't be upset.
Any paper lying around, I put together in a pile. It doesn't take too long and then I turn to do the job I was assigned. I hope Dr Roberts doesn't come back yet, as I've done nothing, and that's not going to look good on my very first day.
I start organising the filing cabinet, but I run into another problem. Dr Roberts told me not to read the information as it is about patients, which I agree with, for patient-confidentiality reasons. However, Dr Green hasn't been placing all of the pieces of paper in files. How can I organise them if I don't read them?
It takes a minute for me to decide, before I eventually just start putting them in a pile on the desk. I can collect them all, put them into a file and then leave a note for Dr Green.
I begin filing, and I get so absorbed that I don't notice someone has entered the office, until I get a faint whiff of citrus. I spin around, blushing.
"Well hello," the man says to me. He is taller than me, with blonde curly hair. He has green eyes, that are a lot brighter than mine, and is displaying a large grin. He edges forward a little. "May I ask who you are?"
"I'm so sorry," I say, my blush deepening. This must be Dr Green. "My name is Sang... um, Dr Roberts asked me to come organise your files."
"Oh," Dr Green says, an eyebrow raised but he doesn't seem upset. "Well, it's really nice to meet you, Sang."
"Would you like me to go?" I ask shyly. "I can come back later..." I really don't know what to do right now, but under his scrutiny, my tummy is full of butterflies.
"Definitely not," he replies, good-naturedly. "I just came in to grab something real quick, and then I'll leave you to it."
"Okay," I reply softly. I watch as he goes and gets something out his desk drawer, and I'm relieved to see that they are quite clean.
"Nice to meet you," Dr Green says, waving. "I'll see you soon... and thank you."
"See you later," I reply, though I'm not sure if we will meet again. Interruption forgotten almost as soon as the door closes, I turn back to my task. I do not want to fail.
