I wake the next morning, surprised that Luke has gone

I wake the next morning, surprised that Luke has gone. The only hint that he was actually there, other than the faint scent of vanilla and sugar, is the cute little bracelet he gave me fitting snugly around my wrist. I don't know why he bought it for me, but I love it. It was an extremely thoughtful present, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Someone actually bought me a present.

I check the time and see it's only 9 a.m. so it's definitely a lie-in for me, but it still gives me plenty of time to myself before I need to head work. I notice my dad has already left—and I ignore the feelings I get about it—and glancing around the empty room, reminds me that I'm alone. I'm really lonely.

Nope. No being upset today. I got a pretty bracelet from Luke, and I've made lots of new friends who would hate it if I felt this lonely. I jog upstairs and pull on a dress, so that I can go to the diner for breakfast. I just need to her around people right now.

I lock the house, surprised my dad left it open whilst I was sleeping, and make the slow walk to the diner, using the time to catch up on messages. Apparently, Victor added everyone's number into my phone (I'm guessing it was him, since he had it last) and a few of them have already texted me. I respond to those that have, but North is the only one who responds instantly. I realise I need to check my phone more frequently if people are going to be contacting me.

Incoming call from North

Sang: Hi, North.

North: Good morning, Sang Baby. What are you doing?

Sang: I'm going to get some breakfast. Me eating should make him happy.

North: Where? With who? Are you alone? I can't help but smile. North always cares.

Sang: The diner... yes, I'm alone.

North: I'm nearly there. I'll have breakfast with you. He pauses, and I can hear someone snickering in the back. If I'm allowed?

Sang: Of course. I'll see you soon.

When I reach the diner, I hang outside to wait for North. It'll be easier than explaining to whoever is manning the counter that I'm waiting for someone.

"Little bird," Ben calls climbing out of his car, a few minutes later. "What are you doing here? It's early."

"Good morning," I greet, smiling. "How are you?"

"You're here far too early," he scolds, reaching me and giving me a hug. "You're not meant to be here until afternoon. You can read the clock right?"

"I'm pretty good at telling the time," I say laughing. I love Ben. He's kind, thoughtful and always makes me laugh.

"I'm here for breakfast first," I continue. "Don't worry so much."

"Good girl," he replies, before his eyebrows raise. "Why are you stood outside if you're going for breakfast then?"
