"FIONA!!!" Cris cried out as she saw me walk into Devil's Corner, how I'd missed this place. I was still in a bra and shorts, but it didn't matter as I was more worried at the charging Cristina. I let her crush me in a hug, until she finally pulled back to look me in the eyes. "Where were you? What happened? Why didn't you contact me? Are you okay?" I smiled at her before nodding my head. "I'm good, surprisingly." Cris didn't look convinced as my eye and cheek were still bruised, my ankles and wrists were still burned raw from the iron cuffs, and the scar over my eye was still a rather fresh wound. "Come in, let's talk."
Explaining the entire month and a half-ish to Cris was difficult. But by the end of the explanation, I saw Cris in a way I'd never seen her before. Her eyes were totally red, beautifully curved horns had sprouted from her forehead and spiked wings had ripped through the back of her shirt, I even saw a swing of her pointy tail. "Unbelievable! Hypocrites! You need blood to survive and they dare judge you for even being considerate enough to only feed on bad people." Scarlet had been standing to the side, listening in.
"Amazing. I've never heard of a vampire who's special ability is to smell the morality of people." At that I looked at her weird, and her apologetic smile told me that she was sorry for not explaining sooner. "Much like how witches may be more naturally gifted in some fields of magic, vampires also have some innate gifts. They're not necessarily unique to the vampire, but it's a natural ability to be more gifted in something or even have a totally different ability than other vampires. My special ability is cleanly affecting memory, I'm better at making memories smoother despite me altering them. Another example could be General Alexander who has a totally different gift, he can teleport to any place on Earth in the blink of an eye, as long as he has the destination in mind." Awesome!
I turned to Cris again, and she was clearly still upset at all the information she took in. "Don't furrow your brows like that. You'll get old lady wrinkles." I joked, since that's a line she'd constantly tell me. But she wasn't having any of it. "What now? It's not like the Royal Coven will stop chasing you, and I definitely don't want you dead Fi." I sighed and sat back, thinking of Stella and hoping she wasn't in worlds of trouble. "Actually, I'm taking Fiona up to Maine to see Queen Valerie. We can't let the Royal Coven keep abusing their favoritism."
I again shot her a weird look and Scarlet, again, chuckled nervously and happily explained. "Well, obviously, witches, werewolves, and vampires are the three eldest children of the Moon Goddess. We were her first creations. And we got into a huge war around 1,500 years ago, The Great Lunar War, and since then we've been like 3 siblings who can't get along. Witches are kinda like the youngest sibling who never really get in trouble, but we vampires are like the eldest sibling who have to be the most careful with how we go about our lives; and the werewolves are the forgotten middle child. But this can't be overlooked, they almost burned you at the stake for killing people. Which, mind you, you followed vampire protocol even though you didn't know them so– props."
I groaned, Goddess this sucks. I got up and started pacing, my ankles throbbing at the action. "I have so many questions. Firstly, why aren't my wounds healing? Secondly, how do we even deal with this? And lastly, what do I do about Stella?" I heaved, exasperated as I turned to them. They looked at each other quietly, before sagging a bit. Scarlet rolled her head, clearly exhausted. "If I know anything about witches, they probably cast a spell on you to prevent you from healing so they could do... this." She waved her hand at all of me before continuing. "For your next question, we need to plead a case to the Highest Court. It's where 6 of the most powerful members of all 3 of our species will decide what to do. Those 6 members are in their position because they speak the word of the Moon Goddess, basically. And your last question? What about her? She's a witch."
Right, I didn't tell them that she's my mate. But before I could say anything, Cris shot up looking excited as her pointy tail swung side to side. "She's your mate isn't she!?" I felt the heat rush to my cheeks before I could stop it, and immediately Cris squealed and Scarlet stood there slack-jawed. "OK OK! Yes, you're right. She's my mate. But what do I do? I mean, she was assigned with killing me, granted she didn't. But with her aunt being the High Priestess, she would never pick me over her coven." I sighed, realizing it as I said it aloud that I was right. "Ugh, I'm tired. I'm gonna sleep for a couple days. I have a lot to think about." This entire section of my life has honestly been so exhausting. I want to sleep and wake up with everything solved for me.
As I walked into my room, I just barely heard the light footsteps of Scarlet following me. "We'll figure something out. But for now, you should get Stella out of your head. The more attached to her you become, the higher the likelihood of a rejection killing you. And I definitely do not hope to witness your death for a second time." I stared at her blankly for a little, before nodding my head and laying down. I don't remember my pillow being so hard. Guess I had gotten pretty used to the clouds that I'd call Stella's pillows. Goddess damn it all to hell, don't think about Stella! My plan to get her out of my head didn't necessarily work but I managed to sleep after a while. But my dream seemed strange... Stella?
