It's been almost four months since they've really talked. Tara asked for space and that's what she got. Even though it's been so long neither of their feelings for each other went away at all.
They only talk when it's about the kids and still they barely even do that. When Amber drops the kids back off she waits in the car and watches from there to make sure they got in safely.
She hated this, she hated not being able to really talk to Tara. The kids still didn't really understand what was happening, they of course asked questions like curious little kids would, but they always got the run around answer.
They knew something was wrong because how could they all go from them all living together to one of their mothers moving out and their parents barely talking?
They would have no choice but to come together and talk now though because it was their daughters eighth birthday soon.
Amber was getting ready to drop the kids back off at Tara's and she noticed an unfamiliar car in the drive way. She parked the car and slightly furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Mama, who's car is that? Cairo asked, slightly kicking the back of her chair. "I don't know, buddy. Let's go see," she said, getting out the car.
She helped both of her kids out the car and walked up to the door step this time, just so she could see who was in there with Tara.
Skylar happily knocked on the door, waiting for a response. When she didn't receive a response after knocking multiple times, she frowned.
"Why isn't mommy answering?" the smaller girl asked. "I don't know, baby," Amber replied.
"I'll call her," She said, taking her phone from her back pocket. She hesitated for a moment, she hasn't called Tara in months, she wouldn't be surprised if the girl didn't even answer her call.
After a while, she finally did answer the phone. "Hello," Amber said, there was an awkward pause on the other side. "Hello," Tara said, slightly out of breath.
"Are you okay? I'm outside with the kids," Amber said, waiting for a response.
"I'm coming," Tara said, quickly hanging up the phone. After a few more minutes of standing around, Tara finally answered the door, with a taller woman behind her.
'What the hell,' was the only thought inside Amber's mind. "Hey, my babies," Tara smiled, bringing both of her kids in for a hug. They smiled and hugged her back, but was just as confused as their mama was.
"Tara, Can I talk to you please," Amber asked, "alone," she added, practically staring daggers into the unknown woman.
"Sure," Tara sighed, "just give me a second, okay?" she added, looking back towards the woman behind her.
"i'll see you later," she smiled, hugging her. The grip the other woman had on Tara's waist made Amber's blood boil a bit, and they hugged a little too long for Amber's liking.
When they finally pulled away from each other, the other woman walked out past Amber and shot her a quick smile.
Amber scoffed and looked back at Tara. "What do you want to talk about?" Tara asked, innocently.
"Who is that?" Amber asked, getting straight to the point. "It's not any of your business, but she's a friend from work," Tara admitted, slightly taken back by the question.
"Not my business? You're still my wife," Amber said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, and I mean I guess it was, but not to Tara.
"Well what kind of marriage is this? We haven't talked in months," Tara said, voice slightly raising.
"That was your choice. You asked for space and I gave that to you," Amber said, voice raising as well.
"Yes, but it's because of something you did," she said, lowering her voice once again so the kids couldn't hear.
"I get why you're mad. You have every right to be, but i'm so sorry, and i'll tell you that over and over again for the rest of my life if I have to," Amber also whispered. She stepped forward, "I love you," she added on, now staring into Tara's eyes.
Tara wanted to say it back badly, but she couldn't. This was just too much right now. "Thank you for dropping the kids off," she said quickly, backing up and closing the door.
Amber sighed and walked back over to her car.
When she got back home, she unlocked the door and seen Liv sitting on her couch. "How did you get in my apartment?" Amber asked, taking her shoes off and sitting besides Liv.
She brought herself an apartment about a month after she and Tara separated. She knew Liv and Chad were getting tired of her even though they kept saying they weren't.
"I have my ways," Liv said, taking Amber's hand in her own. "Seriously, how are you?" Liv asked, waiting for a reply.
"I'm okay. As best as I can be for a person that ruined their marriage," amber sadly chuckled.
Liv frowned before speaking, "You didn't ruin it," she said, trying to comfort her but she didn't even believe it herself. "Okay, yes you did, but it doesn't have to be ruined forever," she added on, rubbing Amber's shoulder.
"It's not going to be ruined forever. I don't care how long it takes, but i'm going to get my wife back. I love her and I seriously don't know if I can do this any longer," Amber sighed, she wiped away the tears before they could even fall.
"I know what I did was terrible, but to not even talk to me for months? I just can't," Amber said.
"It'll get better. I know it will. We all see how much you guys love each other. Since high school you guys have been obsessed with each other and you definitely couldn't keep your hands off each other," Liv smiled, reminiscing.
Amber smiled as well, a tear finally escaping her eye. Liv wiped it and hugged her.
"Guess what," Amber said, after a few minutes of just watching Tv.
Liv paused the show and turned back towards Amber. "What?" she asked.
"When I dropped the kids off, Tara was there with another woman. I asked who it was, she said it was none of my business and that she was a friend from work," Amber said, dryly.
"Oh, yeah, her new girlfriend that she told me and Mindy about!" Liv said, the biggest smile on her face.
Amber's face dropped and so did her heart.
"I'm just kidding," Liv laughed, patting Amber's shoulder.
"That wasn't funny," Amber said, her serious face, but it eventually broke out into a smile.
"But seriously, maybe she is just a friend from work," Liv said, shrugging her shoulders.
"I don't think so," Amber said, "Because why would Tara be so out of breath before I dropped the kids off? she damn sure wasn't running," she added on, laying her head back against the couch.
"Don't assume. It could've literally been anything," Liv responded, getting off the couch and going into the kitchen.
"I guess you're right," Amber sighed.
"Of course I am."
