The minutes passed inexorably for Serkan, who counted every second spent with Eda exhausted in front of his eyes, unable to touch her, to embrace her, to protect her from the evil that fate had reserved for them and that continued to plague their lives.

Balca and Ferit had been kidnapped in a room next to Eda's and Serkan could hear the screams that Balca and Aziz Demir, the one who for a lifetime Balca believed to be her father, one against the other.

Suddenly, Demir's voice stopped, and an exorbitant number of heavy footsteps dripped onto the marble floor of Demir's underworld quartermaster.

A shot thundered in the dark night and Serkan forced his face into a desperate fear that those shots could somehow hurt Eda, even if far away, even if still distant from them.

Eda jumped, still confused and in a state of semi-consciousness, probably noticing the explosion but without recognizing what the source was. The door handle of Serkan's cell creaked heavily and a powerful shoulder hurled the structure causing it to fall.

Efe and Engin appeared before Serkan's dull eyes, incredulous and convinced it was a vision.

- Serkan, abi. We're here, don't worry. Your father is dealing with Demir, once and for all.

Serkan could not articulate the speech, the words he wanted to utter were too many and uncoordinated, flowing in his mind.

How did they get there? How did they know that he and Eda were there? Or rather, did they know that Eda was there?

- Eda! Free Eda, leave me here and run to her! Call an ambulance! Eda!

Efe rushed to free Serkan from the ropes that held him to the chair while Engin walked over to his sister, desperate at the fragility in front of his eyes.

Aziz Demir's guards tried to block Efe and Serkan, that rushed out to follow Engin. Serkan was immediately rescued by a guard who tried to block his run to Eda one of his father's bodyguards. Serkan nodded to the latter and realized what Efe told him before: Kemal Bolat was really there and that, most likely, the shot he had heard earlier came from his hands. Or at least, he hoped it was his father who shot and didn't lose his life with a shot to give life to his own son.

There hadn't been a day in Kemal Bolat's life that he hadn't shown his family that he was willing to really give his life for each of them, including Eda and Engin. And Serkan hoped with all his heart that the moment had not come when this promise had to turn into a harsh reality.

At that moment, however, Serkan didn't have a clear mind to see what was happening in the adjacent cells, from which a deep silence had extinguished the screams and deafening cries.

Serkan ran to Eda, lifting her in bridal style, noticing how her weight slipped on him, without a hint of strength in her muscles offering endurance. Eda lay in the arms of Serkan who, if he did not have the love of his life in his hand, would have collapsed like jelly from the despair he felt seeing Eda in that state.

- Eda, my love, please answer me. Eda, you can't leave me...

Serkan sobbed as he rushed for miles to the exit of the building where blue lights flashed brightly. Someone had managed to warn the ambulance and as soon as Serkan stepped out of the door, Eda was lifted by the paramedics who hurried to load her into the vehicle where he got on too, without hesitation and without asking permission.

Efe and Engin saw the ambulance door close before their eyes as Eda's brother shed tears over tears, cursing himself for not being near his sister and his best friend at their worst.

- Engin, abi, you couldn't know what was going to happen. Nobody could see that coming. That evil man got what he deserved, and many good hearts paid for it with their own lives.
