In the Naboo Palace, lots of preparations were underway. After the tragic deaths of King Ruwee and Queen Jobal, and their eldest daughter Sola abdicating, that only left their youngest daughter, Princess Padme Amidala, to be crowned Queen.
Padme's twenty-fifth birthday was coming up, and she was ready to step up to claim the throne. Padme was natural-born leader. She was as talented and intelligent as she was beautiful and kind.
In the throne room, sat the lovely princess herself, donned in a beautiful ocean blue gown, her hair in a crown braid updo, and a crown of diamonds sitting on her head.
Padme held a daisy and picked petals from it.
"He's sweet," she blew a petal away. "He's romantic." she blew another petal. "We'll be together forever."
But, all those petals fell into the hair of Padme's lady-in-waiting Caroline.
"Pardon me, Your Highness." Caroline said, brushing the petals away. "You're mangling that poor flower. Who's the lucky guy?"
"My one true love." Padme said. "He's out there. I just know it."
"Do you happen to know if he's royalty?"
"Does it matter?"
"Well, someone of your royal stature deserves a suitor of royal blood."
"What a royal pain." said Padme. She stood up from her throne. "I need a walk."
"Princess Padme," said Caroline, following Padme. "You've gotta pick someone eventually. Tick-tock."
"Caroline, I can't pick a man I'm not in love with." Padme said. "Besides... the man I do pick, an absolute must is that he'll be a loving father.
"Incoming!" shouted a little voice, and in rode a six-year-old boy on his skateboard, until Caroline grabbed him.
"Prince Boba! I told you, no skateboarding in the palace!" Caroline said angrily. "Someone could get hurt."
"Boba, what have we talked about?" Padme said. "You know the rules."
"Sorry, Mommy." Boba said.
Padme chuckled and had Caroline put Boba down.
Boba was Padme's adopted child. Jango Fett's wife Zam sadly died in childbirth, leaving the former to raise Boba on his own. However, three years ago, Jango Fett was killed in a battle between the Jedi-Teers and a powerful Sith. And Little Boba was left on his own. In that battle was also where Padme's parents were killed. And in light of the incident, Padme took the little boy in and raised him as her own.
Padme loved her little boy very much and they were very close. But, like most princesses, Padme longed to find her one true love. Someone to love till death did they part. Sadly, she couldn't pick any suitor who came to her because Boba wasn't comfortable with any of them. The last thing Padme wanted was for her love life to come at the cost of her son's happiness. Thus, right from the start, it was an absolute must that Padme's true love be someone who loved her and would be a loving father to Boba.
"Princess," said Caroline. "You can't expect the perfect man to come right through the door. Even if he does, how are you gonna know he's the one?"
"Well, I imagine when I see him, the room will glow." Padme sighed happily. "I'll hear the most beautiful music; he'll sweep me off my feet and hold me in his arms. And I'll know he's the one when he makes me laugh and my son smile."
Caroline chuckled and said, "That sounds... so romantic."
"Trust me, Caroline. I'll know him when I see him." Padme took Boba's hand. "Come, Sweetie. Let's take a stroll."
Padme and Boba exited the palace, where there were beautiful roses outside. Boba picked one and gave it to his mother, who chuckled as she took it and came across Carousella and Remix, who played their lutes.
"Salutations." Padme greeted.
Boba simply waved to the horses as he walked away with his mother.
Carousella sighed. "A princess desiring love." She said.
"I feel a romantic song coming on." Remix sang.
Remix: Just around the corner, seeking you
Puppy love is tripping lightly into view
Hiding in the hedgerows
Sneaking up on tiptoes
Love's first kiss is blissfully
About to capture youPadme and Boba walked through the royal garden, Teckla the gardener curtsying in their presence. The royals waved kindly, and Padme walked with Boba, blissfully dreaming about finding her true love. She danced with Boba in the garden the way she hoped she would with her true love.
Just around the corner wafting close
Love is creeping nearer than you might suppose
So sit still and wait now
Let love choose your fate now
Take a pause, don't run because
It's right behind you
Let love find youPadme came across Teckla's cottage, where she sat on a bench with her loving husband giving her a kiss, and their two beautiful children at play in the yard. How Padme dreamed of having a loving man by her side someday, and perhaps giving Boba a little brother or sister or two.
Remix & Carousella:
Young love
It's love, love, love, love, love
Love so lovely
What can you say to love
But love? What neither Padme nor Boba knew was that they were being followed by three Weequay pirates, who were moving a huge safe as inconspicuously as possible to a high point in the palace.
Maybe on the rooftops, climbing high
Somewhere just above you, love is hovering by
Love is in a rush to
Smear you, smash you, smush you
Love will crush you into mush
When you're the bullseye, you'll get hit by"Excuse me, Your Highness?" Caroline called as Padme and Boba sat on the steps.
Young love
Your first, your only love
Love so lovely
How can you stand it so
But love?CRASH!
Padme and Boba both screamed as a safe nearly crushed both of them when they were getting up.
"Your highnesses!" Caroline exclaimed, rushing out.
Thankfully, both Padme and Boba were okay, but shaken up.
Padme heard something from the balcony above and looked up. She called some of the clone royal guards to search the palace and find the would-be assassins.
Padme could clearly see she was going to need stronger protection not just for herself, but for her son as well.
