Not long after we start making our way into the school, Oliver makes a big show over fussing over me and my whereabouts yesterday. And when I finally give in he sympathizes with me.
"Oh you Poor child, stuck with Tobias for-" We all draw a blank at that, how long will I have to deal with him?
Tobias decides to finally process what he said, "Hey, what do you mean stuck with me, I am delightful company,"
"Not in what I've seen-" Rex says raising an eyebrow, "You seem like an asshole,"
"Can it, douche," Tobias interrupts smacking him in the back of the head with a water bottle, "Don't you have band practice?"
Rex rubs the back of his head and looks as if he's about to retaliate before going pale, "Oh shit I do,"
Then he runs down the hall with great speed. More speed than one would expect from a hipster that plays the tuba.
Tobias looks after him, "I should've let him stay, he seemed more worried about missing band practice than annoying me,"
Oliver and I shudder thinking back on his wretched band days. I never joined but I did watch their practices. And let me tell you, nothing is scarier than an old German lady throwing drumsticks at you every time you make a mistake.
It started out funny that is until she started throwing them at me for laughing. Which cracked Oliver up which in turn got drumsticks thrown at him. I think she loved the kids though because every time I laughed at Oliver for messing up she made me play it and then laughed at me when I failed. Her name was impossible to pronounce so everyone just ended up calling her Mrs. A, and by the time it was over I too knew Oliver's parts.
"I don't think even my worst enemy deserves that," Oliver says looking just as pale as Rex had.
"It can't be that bad?" Tobias questions.
If he's looking for a rant on the hellfire that is Mrs. A, he's come to the wrong place, we will never relive those days. I only keep coming to support him until he could drop the class, a whole year of drumsticks really should've improved my reflexes but evidently it did not.
More fortunately for Tobias Oliver seems slightly more keen on sharing his band days, and by that I mean he shared a single whisper of a word that communicated all the torment to Alice, "Drumsticks,"
I gasp and pretend to faint at the mere word, Oliver catches me while I fan myself with my hand. Alice laughs at my dramatics.
"Wait you were a band kid?" Tobias asks ignorantly.
"No, but that doesn't keep me from knowing every part of their drum beat," I tap the beat with my fingers on Oliver's arm and he lightly falls to the floor with me on top of him.
"My skin burns at the reminder of those terrible days," He gasps dramatically for air and I widen the range of my fan to include him.
He fans me back and we pretend to break out into hysterical tears,
"Get your asses up here it wasn't that bad," Alice says yanking me up.
I make the fake sobs more violent, "Oliver you are the only one who understands the terror."
Eventually, I give up and start towards the cafeteria for breakfast, deciding I am most definitely done reliving my trauma for the day. Andrea and Jesse are already waiting there for us. Andrea gives me the most pissed look she can muster and gestures me over.
"You didn't text or anything you prick," She says hitting me hard on the shoulder.
"Oi, that hurt, and its not my fault, I was legitimately kidnapped," I say motioning at Tobias.
