Peyton

*March 5th, 2022*

Sitting only just a menacing 2 inches from her on the couch. Peyton didn't know what exactly they were. She thought they were good friends, but the way Emily had dropped everything to come across the US and watch her play. To leave her life behind her so quick... like she's had to do it before.

Peyton looked up at her over her cup of coffee and they kept making glances at each other over the cup.

"I guess I want to show you the city today then, if you're up for it?" Peyton asked standing up from the couch, anything to break the awkward in the midst of those two inches. Even just relaxing out how she usually did, her hand could have laid on her thigh without a second thought. Like she were Alex for a second.

She was not Peyton's girlfriend, not yet anyways. But now that Emily was sitting on her couch so close, she wasn't sure how to feel. If she wanted her, she should only want Alex, that wouldn't be fair to her. Peyton did take her home after buying her a shot, but they did nothing but talk. Nothing but sitting inches away from one another, including her putting a hand on Alex's knee. She in fact begged her to kiss her, but Peyton was a gentlewoman, she knew Alex was intoxicated. Why was she even thinking about Alex in this point in time, because she wanted to do the same thing to Emily right then? Place her hand on her knee and kiss her soft alluring lips.

"I would love that." Emily said and instantly, Peyton snapped back to reality, realizing what she had just thought about and what had just been said.

"Oh! Yes. I have plenty of places to take you. Local known ones too." Peyton laughed.

After getting ready and hitting the city. Peyton first took her to her favorite coffee shop down below her residential. They both ordered an Irish cream latte in season for Saint Patrick's Day.

Peyton took her below the city's streets where the smell of piss stung your nostrils. She elbowed Emily once she saw the look on her face. Covering her mouth with her sleeve, Emily repeated the elbow throw and then her sleeve to her face.

On the subway, they could actually breath better. Peyton dropped her sleeve pretending to gasp for air, "no better smells than New York City. I bet you wish you were back home."

Emily smiled and shook her head, "oddly enough, it's exactly what LA smells like." She smiled, "it's like I'm already home."

Peyton chuckled at her and the subway had gone so far without the both of them noticing. They were already coming up on Midtown.

"Arriving at 42nd street station" the intercom announced and the crowd of people waiting to get through crowded the station.

Peyton grabbed her hand and Emily looked up at her confused, "when I say go, you run. And don't let go." She said. Her face changed to a nervous look as the stood in front of the doors to the slowing train.

"Stand clear of the opening doors." A melodic tune went off and the doors opened.

To which Peyton held tight and yelled, "go!" And the two of them were off, shoving through the mass of people crowding through the doors before they shut 2 minutes after. People gave pissed off looks as Peyton did most of the shoving work, keeping her head down, she made it through the people and up the steps. She was laughing, actually laughing and not at all under the influence.

They hit the surface of the piss stench and both now in Downtown New York, they were dying of laughter.
When Peyton looked up, they were around the corner from The Times Square.

"Oh that, yeah that's nothing." Peyton smiled, realizing Emily was a fresh tourist, never seen these places before when Peyton seen them nearly everyday.
