I'm going to die. That's it, that's what's going to happen. Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna try, try so hard to come back home, but I'm going to die eventually, it's inevitable. I'm thirteen, with no training at all. I might as well kill myself right now. But I know that I can't do that, I have to get home to Emerald and mom, I can't just leave them wondering why I died or feeling guilty because they couldn't do anything about it. I can't leave them, I'm gonna try so hard that even if I die they'll still be proud of me. Hopefully i wont die though, I will return, that means don't trust anyone, be stealthy, loss my conscious and make allies. I stare out the huge window and for the first time I look around the room, its magnificent, There's a velvet couch to my right and a book shelf to my left. I look back out the window and tears start to fall. The doors open with a creak and I whip around. It's my mom, she runs up to me and embraces me in a hug. We stay like that for a few minuets letting each others tears run down each others backs. "We don't have much time" she says in a whisper, she pulls away and grabs my shoulders. "Be brave, Lillie, I love you." She says, "I love you too" I say and she wipes my tears away with her thumb. She puts her hand in her pocket and pulls out a necklace, the chain is made from thin silver, purple, and blue strings, about as thick as four pieces of thick hair and at the end there's a beautiful flower made from melted iron. She places it in my hand and turns it around, on the back my name is engraved. "It's beautiful, thank you" I say almost speechless with this gift. It must have cost a lot. "It's a Lilly, the flower, and just like you it's beautiful but sturdy and hard to break, because its made of iron. Remember that whenever you look at the necklace, your just like that flower." She says pointing to the flower and putting it around my neck. "I'll think of you too" I say giving her another hug. "Times up" the peacekeeper says opening the door, my heart starts to race because I don't want her to leave, I grab a hold of her arm, crying and begging her to stay. She wiggles away from the man and hugs me one last time, she whispers in my ear "I love you, be brave my iron flower" and with that the peacekeeper drags her away and shuts the door. I stand in the middle of the room with tears running down my face holding tight to the necklace and her last words that were said to me. I don't even bother wiping my tears away until I hear foot steps in front of the door.

Emerald bursts through, tears running down her face. I stand still with my arms to my side as she wraps me in a hug. After a few seconds I wrap my arms around her as well. We pull apart and as we stand there in silence I look at her face and her tears and water starts to pool in my eyes. "You're my best friend" she says, "you're mine too" I say back. "I'm sorry! I should have taken your place" she says and starts to cry even more, "no, I'm glad you didn't, I'm fine" I say. Although she knows I'm not there's this small part of me that hopes that she'll believe that I'm fine. "I know that you're not, but you will be, your strong" she says, "you can win, I know you can, you're smart, you have amazing hearing, and you know how to survive in harsh situations, I've seen it. I don't know much about the games but I know that you're a competitor, during training make sure to learn to use as many weapons as possible but don't forget to learn even more about plants and other survival tips." She says everything so fast but I hear it perfectly, she believes in me. "Just, remember me in that arena" she tells me after pausing after her fast 'speech'. Her words make me want to win so much harder. "I will, I promise that I'll try so hard to come back, I'll never forget you" I say, we hug again then a peacekeeper comes and pulls her away. just before the door closes she tells me "don't give up! Im sending you something in there!" with that the door closes before i can say anything else. She's going to send me a sponsor gift, sponsor gifts are expensive, with the buying of it and the demand and the parcel. I don't know how she'll afford it. All i know right now is that I will get back to her.

A/N: hey guys! Here's the next chapter! Thank you all for being so patient with me, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter and that you keep reading because its just going to get better, soon will be the tribute parade, the training, and the arena! Also, I just published my death narrative that I wrote for school a couple months ago that I've been meaning to publish but I thought that I lost it, anyway, it'd be great if you checked it out, it's all in one chapter and it's REALLY long, so I'm sorry about that. I explain more in my authors note at the beginning.
