Chapter 27 -
Niall and I just sat on my bed in silence while staring into each other's eyes. I still had my forearms on my knees.
"Did you sleep at all, Niall?" I asked to break the silence.
"I did for a little bit, but I feel fine," he told me. I laughed quietly at him.
"You say that now, but what about in a couple hours at school? Speaking of school, you need to change clothes. I think my brother still has some clothes left here." I got off my bed ready to head for the door.
"Uh, Bryli, I think Stephen's clothes are a little bit too small for me."
"No no, not Stephen. I have an older brother too. He lives somewhere else though; he comes and visits every once in awhile."
"Oh, that would make sense." He got off the bed to follow me.
"His room is in the basement," I said as we left my room and headed down the stairs.
"Why is it there?"
"I'm not very sure. I think it was something along the lines of that he could get peace and quiet down there...even though the laundry room is down there and my mom is like down there everyday."
"Oh."
We got to the main floor of my house; it was dark and quiet.
"The door to the basement do the kitchen," I whispered as I took Niall's hand. I knew my way around the house in the dark because my older brother and I would always do scavenger hunts in the dark.
"What's your older brothers name?" Niall asked when we went to the kitchen and arrived at the door to the basement.
"His name is Cameron. He's five years older than me... so he's twenty-three." We headed down the stairs to basement; Cameron's room was the first room on the left. I heard Niall gasp when we stopped at the end of the stairs. The basement in my house was a finished basement with carpets and everything.
"Yeah, I know, we kinda went all out on our basement." I brought him to Cameron's room. I turned on the bedroom light and we walked in. Cameron's room was plain and boring. It had blue walls with a black carpet. He had nothing on his walls; they were just bare. Niall sat on Cameron's bed as I went to my brother's dresser.
"Wow," I said surprised, "Cam actually left a lot of clothes here." I was looking through the drawers.
"What exactly do you want to wear, Niall?"
"Does he have any tank tops?"
"Yeah, he's got tons of tank tops." I tossed some of the tank tops to Niall for him to look through.
"Do you want shorts or jeans?" I asked next.
"Hmm," I heard him say at the same time I heard the mattress squeak. I turned around to see Niall walking towards me.
"I think I'll wear shorts," he told me as he kissed my cheek. I turned back to the dresser and crouched down to the bottom drawer. When I try to open it, my fingers slipped off the handle.
"It's stuck," I said.
"Let me try," Niall offered. He crouched down and tried to open the dresser; he couldn't get it open either.
"Let's try together," I suggested. So we both again to pull on the dresser. I could feel it slowly opening and then Niall and I flew back and into Cameron's bed. Pants and shorts were all over the floor.
"He must have really stuffed that drawer," Niall said.
"I guess he did. He really hated doing his laundry," I laughed.
