CHAPTER 1

{Amaya Rose}

I start prepping to make the blueberry muffins that I've been making every day for 6 months.

Before I start making the actual batter, I preheat the oven to 200 degrees- C.

After that, I take out the whisk and bowl. Grabbing the paper that had the recipe I start reading through it, do I make them every day? Yes. Do I like being sure it's the same every time? Yes.

I start taking out the ingredients from the cabinets and the refrigerator and start.

I combine 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, ¾ cup white sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt, in the bowl.

Now, for the wet ingredients, I hum.

I then take the other bowl and whisk ⅓ cup vegetable oil, 1 egg, and ⅓ cup milk together. Finally, I combine the wet and dry ingredients, till it's a pretty batter.

Now I make the crumb topping which is easy; I add ½ cup white sugar, ⅓ cup all-purpose flour, ¼ cup cubed butter, and 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon into the bowl, mix, and taadddaaa. Amazing.

I then take out the muffin cups and hear a ding that lets me know the oven is preheated, I spray the baking spray in the cups so they don't stick to the muffins. I scoop enough batter for one muffin and put it in the cup that's exactly in the middle of the rest, just for him, I then add exactly how many blueberries he likes, just as I have been doing for months, crumble topping and his muffin is good to go.

I add 1 cup of blueberries to the rest of the batter and scoop it into the rest of the cups then again add crumble topping and into the oven, this beauty goes.

Now I wait...

The timer goes off letting me know the muffins are done, I take them out of the oven and let them cool before taking each one out carefully and putting them in the display; making sure I put his aside, for the customers.

I look at the time, 5:55 AM, he will be here in exactly 5 minutes.

I walk toward the new customer that had just arrived and ask her what she would like, after getting it for her I see him walk through the door of the office building.

I quickly go to the back and get his muffin, "good morning, sir" I smile, happy to see him.

"Good morning, one blueberry muffin. Please," knowing I'll get the same answer as I have been getting for months, I hand him the one I made for him, "enjoy, sir."

"Thank you," saying that he walks away into the elevator and I go back to serving other customers.

I'm not sure who 'he' is, all I know is that he works at this office and doesn't like talking much. He is also very serious all the time but ridiculously hot.

When he walks into the room all eyes are on him, no one could miss his confident stride and gorgeous looks.

A few months back he had mentioned that there were too many blueberries in the muffins and that was the first time he had any conversation other than the usual good morning, blueberry muffin please, and thank you.

So, wanting to please him I made him a separate one and asked if it was okay, to which I got a nod of approval so I continued making him a separate one. It wasn't really that big of a deal, it didn't take much time. A happy customer means no complaints so I don't mind it. Right? Yes. That's definitely the reason...

After a long day, I walk to the bus stop and wait for the bus to arrive when I hear my phone ring.

"Bitch! I saw the hottest fucking guy today. Like fuck he was one hot ass man and his ass was hot too," Ashley, my best friend, exclaims excitedly.

"Hello to you too, Ash," I grin even though she can't see me.

"Skip the hellos, so listen, I totally went and got his number. Actually, no I didn't, he looked at me and was too hot to handle so I ran away," she rushes out, "so what about you? Any hot men you ran away from other than Mr. Muffin man."

"Nope, unfortunately, no one else, even if I did I was working so there wasn't much I would be able to do about it," I giggle, I had told Ashley about him a while ago and she hasn't left it alone since.

"I don't know why you don't try to get to know him better. If I were in your position and saw a hot man I would definitely get his number," she sighs.

"Didn't you run away from one today?" I question with a slight smirk.

"Huh? What? I would never," she laughs, "anyways Whatcha doing?"

"Waiting for the bus- oh, it's here. Ash, I'll call you when I get home, okay?" I answer, looking at the bus which was now right in front of me.

"Alright, May, stay safe," she replies, "you really need to get a car."

"Yeah, I will soon I promise," she has always been cautious about me taking the bus but I'm saving up to open my own bakery so I don't want to waste money on a car, plus the bus is fine.

"Okay bye, call me when you get home."

"Alright, love you, Ash," I mumble, getting on the bus and moving toward an empty seat.

"Love you too," with that I hang up and wait for the rest of the people to get on.

It gets super crowded and I see two men in suits with briefcases hurry in and move to the back, right beside me.

They are standing even though there are available seats. That's kinda weird- no, not really... maybe they like standing.

The bus starts moving and it is supposed to stop in around 15 minutes, which is when I can get off but it stops in 5.

I look around to see if everything is okay and that's when I see six men in suits standing at the front of the bus. I can't make up their faces it's too crowded.

I look beside me at the people who took those seats and they look as confused as I am.

I look up and the first two briefcase men pull out a gun each. What is going on?

Everyone around starts screaming when they notice the guns, wanting to hurry out but the 6 men were blocking everyone.

"Leave innocent people out of this and let's take our business elsewhere," one of the six men speaks loudly, making everyone go quiet.

"Let us walk out of here unharmed and they don't have to get hurt," briefcase man number one exclaims.

One of the suit men calls someone and then takes a picture of the crowd, probably to remember the faces of the briefcase men.

The suited man on the phone continues talking to whoever he is talking to before his eyes land on me, 'what did I do?' I wonder.

"Yes boss, we'll make sure nothing happens to them," he replies, his gaze still on me.

He was indeed handsome, I bet Ash would start talking about how hot he is if she was here.

"Get out, we won't do anything," the suited man promises, "leave them out of this."

Briefcase man number one looks skeptical but still walks out and number two follows behind and flinches when one of the suit men moves to get out after them. May I just say, wimp!

"I'm sorry about the inconvenience, please go on with your journey," the suited phone man added before getting out of the bus and into his own car.

After a few minutes of everyone calming down a little, the bus starts moving again.

When it stops, I get out and head to my apartment building.

I'm not sure exactly what just happened but it was kind of cool.

I pick up my phone and call...

"Ash, you will never believe what just happened."
