Naruto and Lee were in a full blown discussion about how awesome both of their teammates had done in that fight. Each making arguments as to why their teammate should be promoted, and why the other shouldn't. Hinata was watching all of this with a small smile on her face. Thrilled to be able to be this close to her crush. As she stood by and listened to the heated argument between the two. She decided that she could listen to Naruto talk all day. He just had that way about him, an aura if you will. He made people like and believe in him. When he told you something, you had no choice but to believe that he ment it. Hinata firmly believed in her heart that he would indeed become Hokage one day. Hinata knew that this was her moment, she was this close to her crush, and noone could stop her now. Quickly steeling her resolve, she reached out her hand to pat Naruto on the shoulder, in an attempt to get his attention. She was stopped short however as she heard the proctor yell at her that it was time for her match, and that if she wasnt on the field in one minute she would be disqualified. The infamous black rain cloud that always followed her around returned, as she slumped her shoulders, and prepared herself for her match against Sasuke.
Sasuke meanwhile was still on the field awaiting his opponent, still worried in the back of his mind about his pink haired teammate. He know she would be fine, she had been through worse before, but yet for some reason he just couldn't help but to worry about her well being. Shrugging it off for the moment he knew he had to focus on his match. He couldn't afford to lose focus, not against a Hyuga. Hinata was a more than capable Genin, if the training he had seen her doing on the small amounts of time he was training with Neji was anything to go on.
Somewhere up high in the stands we see our mysterious figure settling in for what he hoped to be a great match for the young Uchiha. 'Time to show me what you have, and how far you've come cousin.' He said to himself as he pulled out his mini telescope to get a close up look at the action.
As soon as Hinata was in the fighting area the proctor gave the signal to start, and Sasuke wasted no time as he sent a few shuriken toward Himata who was able to deflect them with ease with the use of her Byagukan. But something seemed off with the heir to the Hyuga clan, but Sasuke couldn't figure out what. He decided to try his luck in close, a foolish idea for most, but not for an Uchiha. Sasuke's Sharingan was more than enough to allow him the ability to predict and counter Hinata's strikes. After a couple minutes of thos with neither combatant getting the upper hand, Sasuake disengaged and decided to get some distance. "Where is that fire, that desire I saw in you when you were training? You're not even fighting, you're just going through the motions. All you're doing is defending, do you even want to win?" Sasuke asked Hinata after he ended their exchange. "Everyone here is watching you right now, and this is how you come out here? Where is the fire? Where is the determination? Don't you want Naruto to see how strong you are?" Sasuke continued as he tried to wake Hinata up.
Upon hearing Naruto's name the dark rain cloud over her head somewhat disappeared, as she looked up at the competitors box and saw Naruto was watching the match with his full attention. This pumped up and excited Hinata, as the remainder of her dark storm cloud was blown away by the strong shining rays of determination. As Hinata charged at Sasuke with renewed vigor, forcing Sasuke onto the defensive as he desperately blocked and deflected Hinata's strikes. This did not deter Hinata though, she was determined to win now, determined to give Naruto a show, determined to have Naruto's gaze, those brilliant blue orbs of his locked entirely on her and only on her.
Up in the stands Hiashi was smiling to himself. 'You impress me yet again young Sasuke. You found a way to bring out the imner strength, that I knew lay dormant inside Hinata. You found a way to do it that I could not. You truly are just like your brother. Kind to everyone, and putting everyone else's needs and wants above your own. I just hope that kindness doesn't hurt you in the end.' Hiashi finished as he returned his focus back to the fight.
