When we got off the bus, Grover immediately needed the bathroom. He made us both promise that we would wait for him. Which, we totally didn't. He was really freaking us out. He kept muttering things like, "Why does this always happen?" And, "Why is it always the sixth grade?" So Percy and I each hailed a taxi. We exchanged our parents' numbers so that we could keep in touch and hang out this summer. We said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways. I was so excited to see my mom. She is one of the nicest people on the planet. My mom's name is Jennifer Harper. She met my dad in college, they were only together for about a year. My dad left when he found out my mom was pregnant with me. She had to drop out of college so she could work full time and take care of me. She met my step-dad when I was 6 and had my little step-brother a year later. My step-dad is a nice guy, he makes my mom happy so that makes him cool in my book.

My little brother is the cutest thing ever to exist. He just turned 5, he has blond curly hair and the bluest eyes. He looks absolutely nothing like me. I have short black hair with green streaks in the front. The blackest eyes and olive brown skin. I'm 4.9 and my mom says I'm 4.9 in height and 6.1 in attitude. Anywho, I'm getting off topic. I paid the taxi and headed into my apartment complex. I'm on the 10th floor so by the time I got to my apartment I was drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. I burst through the door and screamed, "I'm home!" I heard a squeal of joy as Matty came stumbling around the corner and leapt into my arms. "LJ, LJ you home!"

I squeezed him tight with a huge grin on my face. I had missed my little bundle of joy. Then I heard the voice of my favorite person, "LJ?" My mom called, she walked in from the kitchen. I sighed in relief as my beautiful mother gave me a huge hug. It had been so long since I had last been in my mom's arms. All of the fear from the past week melted away. We spent the rest of the evening unpacking my stuff and talking about my life at school. We were just getting to the museum field trip, when there was a loud knock at the front door. My mom looked at me, "You aren't expecting anyone are you?" I shook my head. My thoughts immediately went to Mrs. Dodds. What if she wasn't dead and had come after me? My mom went to open the front door. I grabbed the small knife my step-dad had given me for my 11th birthday and raced after my mom. When I got to the front doorway, my jaw dropped. Standing there, drenched to the bone, was Grover. I stared at him in shock, "What are you doing here?" I demanded. He looked at me and then my mom, "Hi Mrs. Harper, I'm a friend of LJ's from school. Could she come outside to talk for a second?" Grover asked, his voice shaking a little. I looked at my mom pleadingly. She nodded, "Of course." I followed Grover out in the hallway.

"What's going on?" I demanded.

"Percy's in danger, and now he is missing!"

"What? What danger? Does this have anything to do with those old ladies?"

He held his hands up, "Slow down. I promise I will tell you everything. But right now I need your help."

"I stared at him with wide eyes, "Help you? How am I supposed to help you?"

"Well for one thing, you are a half-blood, and two, you are Percy's friend. If anyone can help me find him, it's you."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," I said. "What do you mean half-blood?"

"LJ!" Grover said. "I don't have time to explain right now. I just need you to trust me."

I sighed. "Okay, okay. Wait for me outside the building entrance. I'll be there in 10."

Grover nodded and headed downstairs. I rushed back to my apartment. It was already pretty late, so my mom had put Matty down for bed while I was talking to Grover. I peaked my head into the living room. "Hey, I am really tired so I am going to bed. I love you."

She smiled at me, "I love you too baby. I will see you in the morning." I blew her a kiss and went to my room. I threw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I stuffed some essentials into my backpack and climbed out my window and rushed down the fire escape. I met Grover at the entrance to the apartment complex. "Where are we going?" I asked.

"I have an idea on where he could be, but it will be dangerous, LJ. Like, you could get hurt and even die, dangerous." I stared at him in fear. "Grover? You called me a half-blood earlier. Do you mean half human, half god like in Mr. Brunner's stories?"

He looked at me with worried eyes and nodded. "LJ, I promise I will explain everything, but right now we really need to go." At that moment, he tensed. He then did the strangest thing. He threw down his crutches, kicked off his shoes to reveal hooves? Then it got weirder. He took his pants off, revealing furry legs. "Um?" I started. "What exactly are you?" He looked me right in the eyes, "I'm a satyr. Now come on!"
