There was an old company that ran Battery City, Better Living Industries. Despite the name, they weren’t all that “better.” Better Living Industries was a mega corporation that wrecked everyone’s lives. They distributed pills that make you lose emotion, or simply lack certain emotions.

The hazy citizens of Battery City had all been forced to take the pills and live colerless lives. The streets, the buildings, everything was completely monochrome, not a splash of color anywhere.

However, there were the “rebels.”

The Killjoys.

The killjoys were rebels, and were against Better Living. They wore brightly colored clothes and often dyed their hair in bright colors, and changed their names.

There was an abandoned diner in the desert. Zone 6 of Battery City. Though, it really isn’t abandoned. There was a group of four living there. Was.

The Fabulous Four had given their lives to protect The Mad Gear, she was considered the “savior” of Battery City. Many believed she would free Battery City from the clutches of Better Living Industries. And they were right.

Several years after their deaths, Gear had freed the city from Better Living Industries control. The once draculoids and Scarecrows had revived their souls, and had taken off the masks. They had won.

Now, Battery City belongs to the killjoys and the once hazy citizens. Most killjoys out in the desert do not believe that, so they stay hidden in their bases. Though many have noticed the lack of draculoids patrolling the desert.

The killjoys that do eventually come back to the reformed Battery City go to a “shelter” per say, to help get them back on their feet. Many are often either excited to be there, optimistic about their futures, and just over all ready for a fresh start.

However, some are more tense. Some often have screaming matches with the staff, refuse to cooperate, some often go mute, and you cannot really blame them for how things had been before.

Occasionally, Dr. Death Defying, Agent Cherri Cola, and Show Pony would visit and help encourage them to work. Usually a word from them helps encourage the killjoys to cooperate with the staff and try to help out. As the killjoys looked up to Dr. D the most, they trust him. Most anyway, considering Val Velocity had tried to kill the DJ, but just barely missed his head. He was caught by Gear before he was able to shoot him again.

Gear had gained many friends and had been taken in by Dr. D and Cherri and can truly be a kid, though she is now almost sixteen. Many of the teenage killjoys go to schools built to help cater to them as many need education for jobs they wish to have.

So, all in all, the killjoys are doing very well.
