"Guys, I seriously think we should just stalk his building until we see him, it's our best chance." said Stella.
She had just arrived, after they'd been waiting for half an hour, in Anna's kitchen. Jay, as always, spun round and round on the barstool, perfectly balanced as the legs of the chair bounced round the floor, Stella and Drew skulked by the fridge stealing Anna's food, Chloe stood in the corner, texting, and Anna and Indigo and sat at the kitchen table. They were discussing what to do about the boy they were looking for, he wasn't in any of the yearbooks and Indigo didn't know what his name was; so they had absolutely nothing to go on, except for the fact the he lived in the apartment.
" I think that's our best bet, but Anna and Indigo are the only ones who actually know what he looks like" said Jay.
"Ok, so we go, find him and tell him about the superpower thing?" Indigo asked
"Aw no, I wanna go too, I want to see the look on his face when we tell him were a team of superheroes come to recruit him!" Drew grinned
"Yeah me too!"
"We're gonna freak him out, it'll be great, count me in!"
"Well we can't all go, it might look weird to have all of us invade the building, there's always people in the lobby." Indigo said
"Yeah, six teenagers casually wandering into the apartment building? Not suspicious at all," Anna said sarcastically,
"So? It'll be fun!" Stella squealed "But, if you want I'll go in invisibly and Drew can teleport in, okay love?"
After some discussion, they decided that Stella's idea was best. They figured that Anna, Chloe, Indigo, Jay and Stella (who would be invisible) would go in through the front entrance, then wait at the second floor. From there they would text Drew to tell him the coast was clear and he could teleport up to the hallway, we don't want anyone accidentally seeing Drew pop out of nowhere! They left the coolness of Anna's home, and walked over to the apartment building as nonchalantly as possible, with Stella holding onto Anna's shoulder, so they wouldn't accidentally leave her without realizing it.
"Slow down you titan! I've got short legs!" Anna heard Stella hiss in her ear.
They went into the building, but instead of being struck with cool air as Anna had expected, the air was hot, sticky, and humid.
"Why is it so hot..." Stella moaned
"Sorry, I know it's horrible, the air conditioning in the building broke last week, the rooms are okay because most of us have fans, but the building is terrible. No one can figure out why it broke." Indigo answered, acting as though he was talking to Anna.
They walked by some elderly women with melting powder faces, fanning themselves in armchairs, and they smiled innocently at each of them, trying not to look like they were up to something. Soon they reached the empty stairwell and Stella popped back into view, smiling brightly.
"That was fun! Look, I stole like twenty candies from that dish on the table." she giggled, unwrapping one and popping it into her mouth "What? I need to get my energy back, you guys want?"
Anna accepted a couple, she didn't usually like hard candy, but she hadn't gotten a lot of sleep the night before, thanks to Indigo, and though she didn't feel tired, maybe the sugar could stop her from crashing later. They went up to the second floor, and after carefully checking to make sure no on was in the hallway, Stella and Jay stood guard by the two stairwells and Chloe texted Drew. They waited, then, without warning, he stumbled out of nowhere, hair even messier than usual, big feet thumping onto the floor.
