"Heya!" the boy grinned, "'I'm Drew, and you are...?"
"Not giving my name out to strangers" Anna snapped. The nerve of this guy, just showing up on my doorstep when I went through all that trouble looking for him! She scrutinized him, taking in his flushed face, sweaty brow and mussed red hair, wondering how he had found her.
He gave her a pleading look, "C'mon Blondie, I just ran here all the way from Mangaloo's, I'm supposed to be working right now, I had to sneak out!"
"So why are you here?" Anna asked suspiciously, mind you, she was secretly pretty excited that she had found the boy, but how had he found her? Drew rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly uncomfortable.
"Well, I sorta overheard your conversation in the store, and some freaky stuff has been happening to me. When I heard you guys talking, I kinda followed you back here so we could talk..." he explained
"How could you have heard us? I didn't see you anywhere?"
"I work there, I was in the freezer and I could hear you loud and clear."
"Wait, was that you that threw butter at us?"
"Not exactly... Look, just let me in please? I'll explain everything, promise."
"All right, come on in, the twins I was talking to are here too." Anna grumbled as she stepped aside to let him in. He had to duck under the low doorframe and ruffled her hair as he passed.
"Thanks Blondie," he grinned
"It's Anna."
"Gotcha, Blondie."
Anna just groaned. This boy is so aggravating! But I wonder what's happening to him? She led him into the kitchen and introduced him to the twins. He smiled and gave cheery hellos to each of them, though he threw a wink at Chloe, who flushed. Anna rolled her eyes. Drew was a bit irritating, but he seemed harmless enough.
"Guys, this is the one I bumped into earlier, remember?" she asked, hoping that she wouldn't have to say anything to Drew about her visions just yet.
"Aww you told them about me? I didn't know you cared."
"Just tell us what's been happening to you."
"Sure thing Blondie" he grinned cheekily, but continued in a more serious tone "So, I didn't really notice it much at first, but for the past few days, I kept finding stuff in places that it shouldn't be. Like I'd put something down and I'd go to pick it up a few minutes later, and it'd be gone! It was pretty damn weird, but you know, I lose stuff all the time so it wasn't that crazy. But then, two nights ago, I went to bed normally, whatever, but I woke up in the middle of the night STANDING UP in the kitchen! It was freaking creepy! 'Course I went back to bed after that, but I kept waking up in random places."
"Are you sure you weren't just sleepwalking?" Chloe asked gently
"Yeah! I thought that too! So last night, I dumped a ton of flour all over my floor, to see footprints you know? I put some all around the house- my mom was so pissed when she found out this morning- and I went to bed. Just like that other night, I woke up standing in the kitchen in the middle of the flour. I checked all the flour in the kitchen, my room and the hallway, no footprints! There's no way I could have avoided it, it was like I just... teleported to the middle of the kitchen floor! Pretty cool huh?"
"Okay... but what about the butter? Was that you?" Anna asked
"Yeah, so I was in the freezer, and I was trying to watch you guys, that stick of butter was blocking my view. I couldn't reach it through the shelves, and I was getting really annoyed, when it just disappeared, and reappeared over you three! Awesome right?" Drew said excitedly "But what about you guys? Did that stuff happen to you too?"
They quickly filled him in on what had been happening to each of them. Surprisingly, with each story, he seemed to be getting more and more excited. By the time Anna had explained about her visions and the people she'd seen, Drew could no longer contain himself.
"That is so cool!" he burst out "I was in your vision? Aw man, that's awesome! And you guys have sick hot and cold powers? Woah..."
He looked awestruck. Jay stared at him with a stupefied expression on his face, as if he was having trouble taking in this boy's exuberant personality. Both looked utterly confused. Anna and Chloe looked at them, then at each other. The boys looked even more baffled, which only made them laugh even harder.
"You guys...looked so...confused!" Chloe chortled
Though they still looked puzzled, the boys joined in their cheery laughter, an after a while no one seemed to know what they were even laughing about. Maybe it was just the absurdity of it all, the powers, the visions, but who knew? Abruptly, Drew stopped laughing and looked at down at his watch.
"Damn it!" he exclaimed, "I've been gone for like half an hour! I need to get back to work before anyone notices my break is way over!"
He quickly jumped to his feet and jogged towards the door. However, before he left, he grabbed a pen off the table, took Anna's hand, and scribbled something on it.
"That's my phone number, we all should meet up again, so call me okay?"
Anna nodded and bid him goodbye.
"See ya Blondie!" Drew called as he ran down the sidewalk.
Anna returned to the kitchen where she and the twins, through some unspoken agreement, stopped discussing the strange powers they seemed to developing, and instead talked about themselves, getting to know each other better. After about an hour, the twins stood up to leave, each giving Anna their number as they did so.
"Next time we meet up, I think we should try and find those other people from your vision. I mean, maybe weird stuff is happening to them too." Chloe proposed.
Everyone agreed. And so, Anna and her team of superheroes have a mission: Discover the identities of everyone in the vision!
