Hurricane You

Sometimes i miss you
Nights like tonight
I see the rain
And I remember
How you taught me how to find beauty in thunderstorms

If only 15 year old me knew
The storm we would become
Messy
Drenched
Loud
Chaos
But beautiful
Even in the chaos
God, we were beautiful
You were my perfect destruction

And then,
Like the eye of a hurricane,
Sometimes we stood still
And it felt like things were alright again.

For a while
For a moment

Then the winds and the rain
And the emotions and the tears
It all came back

I have you to thank
That thunderstorms don't scare me anymore.
You're the reason I find joy
In a flash of lightning

But only because I had to learn to heal
In the wake of destruction
From Hurricane You.
