"Hey guys, apparently Bode found the match key outside—I don't know how but he did and—" I paused, immediately suspicious when I found Kinsey and Tyler speaking in low whispers behind Ty's bed, obviously hiding something. It didn't help that they shoved whatever they were so intensely talking about beneath the bed, trying to feign an innocent expression.Yeah, like Kinsey would be caught dead in Tyler's disgusting mess of a bedroom.
"What's that?" Bode peered with furrowed brows behind me, reading my same curiosity. We both stepped inside without an invite, and gave Kins and Ty an obvious 'what are you hiding' look.
Tyler quickly uttered, "Nothing."
I scoffed incredulously. "You could at least come up with a good lie. Seriously, what are you guys hiding?"
Kinsey just rolled her eyes, pushing Ty to move along, "Come on we should all get ready for school."
Both her and Ty cut off our view when they came waltzing over to steer us straight out the door. I tried to nudge him aside, but Tyler had a firm grip as he dragged Bode and I out of the room.
"Hey, I wanna see it!" Bode whined, trying to wiggle free.
"Both of you, outta here," Tyler curtly ordered us.
"Hey, Kins is only eleven months older that me—stop treating me like I'm another Bode!" I hissed, slapping Tyler's hand which he immediately let go once we were safely out in the corridor out of the vicinity of peeking.
"The only reason you know about the keys is because of me! Because I shared them with you, so stop shutting me out!" Bode added with a hard defensive leer in his gaze as he tried to put up a menacing front with his arms crossed. He was so little, I doubt even a kid would be intimidated by him.
There was a silent exchange between Kinsey and Tyler before Kinsey quickly exclaimed with a sigh, "We're not shutting you out. We're—"
"You're protecting me, yeah, I know," Bode snapped, a soft sigh falling out from his lips. "But you can stop. I've gone through everything you have—so has Max! I'm not a stupid little kid anymore," a proud look settled on his face, "Dad said I was very discerning for my age."
Tyler chuckled, "He did, huh?"
Bode sighed, his eyes now forming a unburied pout, "Please, let us help."
After a good amount of convincing, Kinsey and Tyler finally let out defeated breaths and permitted us entry. What they were hiding, however, was nothing like I had expected. It was a duffel bag full of—
"What are these?" I raised the question Bode and I were both thinking as we stared strangely at the brilliant colorful mason jars which each had some weird glowing scene occurring. It was magical, that was for sure. But it was still odd to see—what, we're these like movie scenes?
