"I can't believe you guys broke Uncle Dunc," Bode claimed with an accusatory nose after Kinsey and Tyler just revealed to us what happened to Duncan and the events leading up to it. I'd been so wrapped up in the Gabe and Chase drama that I hadn't even noticed other shit, aside from Tiberius mentioning a thing or two. I guess my focus had been so muddled.

And this Erin woman, who was currently standing in our midst, looked just as guilty aforementioned.

Tyler scowled, "We didn't break him, Bode."

"It really sounds like you put all his memories that are magic back and since he's a grown up, it broke him," Bode sourly drilled, giving Tyler the dirtiest look an elven year old kid could give their taller brother.

"Yeah, I mean, Jesus guys, what the hell were you both thinking?" I couldn't help but worry what Duncan was going through. Flashes of broken images and memories he may not even realize are his to possess? It was going to make him go crazy or consider the possibility he was crazy already. "Common sense that it wouldn't work maybe?"

"Cut them some slack," Erin interjected, obviously playing a hand in this team effort or she wouldn't be defending them.

I sent her a rigid glare, in no mood to be told off by some former lunatic from the hospital, even if it all was the Head Key.

"He seems so confused," Kinsey admitted with a sigh, her eyes downcast.

"Can't imagine why," I mumbled in disbelief.

"Hopefully, it'll pass," Erin tried to ease the worry with a feigned smile, but she wasn't fooling anyone.

"Erin, this was your idea," Kinsey turned to the older woman, her eyes tightened and somewhat bitter.

"I know. I thought it would fix hi—"

Because restoring memories from a bunch of jars into someone's brain without permission is a great idea," I dryly mused as if the conscious thought itself didn't revel in a bunch of non-conscious issues.

"Maybe it's only half the solution," Erin pointed out, something of realization reeling from the confines of her hazy gaze.

Tyler frowned, his brows knitted together pensively, "What about that key Duncan made, the one you used with Dad and your friends to remember as adults?"

"Yeah, the Memory Key, that's what we called it," Erin nodded, starting to piece together what Tyler was referencing at, "Maybe we can use that to help process his memories."

"Do you have any idea where it is?" Tyler questioned, hope tilling on the edge of his voice.

"I can look for it," Erin promised, "Rendell hid it somewhere."

"This is wrong to do this to Duncan—going into his head like this. What if he doesn't even want to remember?" I intervened, my thoughts fostered by more precarious memories. "All of you shouldn't even being doing this to him. It could hurt him. It's too much of a risk."
