Here I am, Julie Carter, one of the most famous YouTubers in the world. I reached about 10 million subscribers just this month. Wonder why? I've spent the past two years, traveling with my four best friends. After their tour with Hot Chelle Rae, they were invited to write their first album in London for Capital Records. On behalf of Louis Tomlinson, they also got the opportunity to to open for their Take Me Home and Where We Are tour. That's where they gained most of the fandom, and where they got their big break. I was there for ALL OF IT.
I loved my job as a bandsister, it wasn't always fun and games, getting to travel and be apart of something special was just a bonus. I didn't realize how much I loved songwriting until I was co-writing a full album with them, and even a few for other artists, I became known as one of the best in the business. I mainly wrote my songs on piano but being surrounded by the guitar for the past few years I got really good at it. The boys were the ones to get me my first guitar for Christmas 2011.
Luke and I started dating as High school sophomores or what they called Year 11. We love each other very much and I support him and his band more than enough. I got to go with them on every single tour so far, and even had to finish school online because of it. It only grew us closer together. I loved these boys deeply, they're my number one priority. I vlog as much as possible and the whole fandom likes the insiders of our lives. Lucas and I were voted favorite celebrity couple in every magazine for a solid year. I understand why, I can say I was so very happy with the way things were without even over-exaggerating. During those past two years of us dating so far, I'll be honest and say we "did it" more than a few times. But not only did I love him so much, he was my best friend. From the late-night "I love you's" to the fans constantly asking us to kiss for a picture. He could immediately tell when something was wrong and we fought like brother and sister.
They were all my best friends. Our past went way back to my very first year at Norwest Christian College. Where we became the best of friends and did everything together. We were practically brothers and sister who knew everything about each other. We were those kids that everybody just ignored and thought we didn't existed in HighSchool. We'd always have sleepovers, and I could practically walk around in my underwear and it wouldn't be weird. I had a personal background with each of them, even though they act like they hate me, when they show their brotherly love it makes me love them even more. Being on that bus as the only girl was hard, I'd get teased for it a lot. There were times when I was in-charge like a mom. And then there were times when they got protective over me like big brothers. Not to mention they all grew 5 inches faster than I did. Not only have we grown closer to each other, I've gotten to know the boys of One Direction pretty well.
Everyone in the fandom knew and loved Julie. The way fake fans, and real fans were separated is if you knew and liked Julie's role. Fans were not upset that Luke was off the market because Julie was like the passageway for Luke girls. So they knew how great of a boyfriend he is. I usually nap a lot, since getting some sleep is hard on tour. So once and a while I'll be sleeping while they're performing if I'm not watching from backstage. And while they're in sound check, if I'm not needed at the moment, I'll go outside to meet the fans who are waiting. They always seem so excited to see me. I like to keep the entertained while they wait for the boys. Some of them don't really know me because their mostly One Direction fans, because it's a One Direction concert of course. But those on the 5sos fam are so happy to see me and I love it. I love taking the pictures with them, and following their fan accounts.
Once they started touring with One Direction, they met with the stylist Lou Teasdale who gave them a more "punk" appeal which is what they wanted. She showed Luke how to style his hair into a quiff. She even cut Michael's fringe and he dyed it many colors himself. Calum eventually got highlights and tattoos lined their arms and hands. A lot has changed since they were that small band on YouTube from Sydney. When they decided they wanted to become a band, I was immediately asked to become their bandsister. Ever wonder who was behind the camera during their video diaries or some of their keeks and live streams? Yup, that was me.
Everything was amazing, but adventure is just starting...
Amnesia wasn't intended to be on the album. It was recorded last minute to add on. But now it's time to tell you how Amnesia came to be...
