I had a very low key affair for my birthday this year on account of my busy schedule. Only a simple dinner, with a mere hundred people at my temporary abode in Stone Canyon Road.
The theme was simply 'eat, drink, and be merry'." I found the first two instructions rather easy, but being 'merry' was a difficult task. I threw myself into hosting, but I certainly did notice the absence of my Hayes. He went back to work a few days ago, and between our schedules, we had barely gotten the chance to speak on the phone for more than ten minutes.
I went around the house, fussing over the lilies which adorned the place at every turn. That was admittedly the only bit of flair that I had added to the place for the party. I really wasn't in the mood for a nightclub this time around. I flirted about the various cliques of guests, never lingering for too long. I simply asked if everyone was happy with the foot and music before going on my way. I didn't really care too much for anyone else's small talk this evening.
I felt an arm slip around my waist from behind, and knew to relax into his touch immediately. Hayes placed a small peck against my cheek before letting his chin rest on my shoulder.
"Happy birthday Freddie." He murmured and squeezed me gently.
"I didn't think you'd make it!" I exclaimed excitedly, no longer giving a flying fuck about whoever was around me.
"I told my boss that I was having emergency dental surgery." Hayes chuckled as I turned around to hug him properly. Despite the majority of the eyes in the room now being on me, Hayes pressed a slow and tender kiss to my lips.
"Did you go into excessive detail about the procedure?"
"I may have done research." Hayes admitted with a sheepish smile as he pulled away, which only led to me kissing him again.
"What. The fucking fuck?" Elton hissed loudly, "What?"
I pulled away with an innocent grin, "Sharon, you haven't properly met Hayes Griffith—"
"Hayes Griffith? That's Hayes Griffith?" John Reid stammered out, "You."
Hayes merely nodded, "Me."
"He's far too pretty, you never go with the pretty ones." Sharon stared him up and down.
The singer was off his tits, which explained the awful bluntness. Admittedly, I always usually went for sort of the rough and buff type of men, but obviously that didn't mean I had to bloody stick with that type. I think Hayes is so good looking that he bloody confuses Roger, what chance am I meant to have in resisting him? Of course his looks only scratch the surface as to why I love him. Unfortunately, Hayes had the nasty habit of comparing himself to anyone I had previously been with, because he believed he doesn't measure up, so I knew Elton's harmless quip was going to rub him up wrong even when it was partially a compliment.
"Don't be bitter just because you're stuck with this fucker." I joked throwing Reid a playful smile, before I dragged Hayes off after me.
"I missed you."
"Why, because I'm so clearly the life of the party?" Hayes chuckled dismissively and shrugged himself out of his overcoat.
"You're fun."
"Is this why they say love is blind?" Hayes furrowed his eyes with concern.
I rolled my eyes, "How was your flight?"
