Julia called Cheryl up the next day.
"Hey, girl. You want to go shopping at the local mall around, say, noonish today?" Julia asked.
"Oh! You don't know how great that would be. We haven't had a girl talk in years. We used to be besties," Cheryl replied. Julia smiled. She was happy she was doing something without Beverly knowing. Bev wasn't the boss of her. And since suspicion is everywhere, Julia couldn't help but feel like Beverly was being dishonest about not doing it.
"Ok, then I will see you at noon at the food court!" Julia said happily and hung up the phone. A minute later she got a call from Eli.
"Did it work?" he asked.
"Did what work?"
"You remember when we were in that cafe and we cracked a plan to get Beverly to be soft? We knew, thanks to Abraham that you were spilling information to Bev, so we told Peter to walk out of the closet! So does she believe that is what is wrong with him?" Julia's eyes widened. She had believed it too.
"She bought it, but wait... You said that is what is wrong with him. Is there some other condition he is in?"Julia stuttered.
"He didn't tell you? I could have swore he told everyone."
"Told us what!"
"Well, I can't tell you. You have to here it from Peter himself."
"Oh, Eli. I can keep a secret if that is what you are worried about! Just tell me the freaking secret!" Julia cried getting irritated now.
"Peter, has been at the doc's office a lot lately because he has... Liver cancer." Julia dropped the phone. She sat down on the cold tiled floor and let a tear flow. Then another. Soon, they gushed out of her and Eli sat patiently on the other end of the line trying to soothe her.
"PETER!" Julia wailed. She looked at the clock, and stood quickly.
"I'm sorry, Eli. Thank you for telling me. Now, I have to go, bye." Julia ran to the restroom and cleaned herself up.
She met Cheryl who met her with a big, happy hug.
"My dear friend! I'm so happy that we can meet!" Cheryl exclaimed. Julia nodded and gestured for them to get food.
Once they were situated, Julia explained everything from the plan and the gay scare to the call she had just gotten.
"Oh hon! I thought he told everyone! I would have told you! You have gone through so much! You need this girl talk more than I do!" Cheryl gasped. Julia cocked her head.
"Well this outing shouldn't be all about me, so what is going on in casa de Cheryl?" Julia questioned. Cheryl sighed.
"Well, Abraham have had feelings for each other for 3 months now. We thought our get together would be the perfect time to share our relationship status, but the this... situation came up. I explained to him that this isn't the right time and that we can't get caught kissing because the situation needs to pass first. But, he just keeps trying to turn me on. I wish he had control," Cheryl huffed. Julia let out a giggle.
"What?" Cheryl asked.
"Well it is just that I am surprised that you would let him pull that trick on me just to throw off Beverly. I wouldn't have let him do that!" Julia exclaimed. Cheryl was so obviously confused.
"You know the whole kissing thing," Cheryl's eyes widened.
"What? I didn't tell him to kiss anyone!" Julia's face got pale.
"He came to my room so we could discuss possibilities when he kissed me and tried to turn me on. Then he said that since Henry died he has been lost and he wanted to feel something. Then he started making out with me, only I didn't kiss back. He said you wouldn't kiss him so he turned to me," Julia said innocently. Cheryl's cheeks were red.
"I have to go now," Cheryl said absent-mindedly.
