Chapter Six

"Daddy?" I asked and I heard a gasp on the other end.

"Brookie?" He said, shocked.

"Yes." I breathed.

"I never thought I'd hear your voice again, Brookie." He told me, sounding like he was about to cry. There was a knock on the door and Harry stood up to go answer it.

"I just got your letter. I was bawling and I had one of my friends here holding me. We just got back from a date and Lexi told us I got a letter from her parents." I told my dad and I could hear him almost break down.

"I'm so sorry I left you like that." He cried and I did the same.

"You're all better now?" I asked.

"Yes, Brookie. I've been in remission for 3 years." He told me. I heard Lexi scream right as I was about to talk.

"Brooke, what was that?!" My dad asked.

"My friend just told Lexi what's happening." I laughed through tears and my dad did the same.

"So, who's this friend?" He asked suggestively.

"He's in a British-Irish boyband and I'm a backup dancer." I blushed even though he couldn't see me.

"Are you talking about One Direction, Brooke?" He laughed.

"Dammit! How did you know!" I yelled and he laughed even more.

"Which one? Harry?" He asked.

"Jesus! Are you stalking me or something!" I joked and he laughed even more.

"He has a great name, sweetie." He chuckled.

"Where do you live now?" I asked a second later once Harry walked back in.

"I live in Ontario, actually." He told me.

"Oh my God! We're going to be there in 3 days and we have a night off there!" I yelled and he did the same.

"I need to meet up with you, Lexi, and this Harry fellow. I have to go now, but what's your number so we can set something up?" He asked and I told him before we both said goodbye and hung up. Right after we did I turned and hugged Harry so tight.

"I told you it was worth a shot." He said into my hair.

"I can't thank you enough. And my dad wants to meet you and see me and Lexi when we have the night off in Ontario." I confessed and he nodded. I looked up at him and kissed him quickly before hugging him again.

"You should go tell Lexi what happened. I'll distract the boys." He whispered and I nodded. We walked into the other room and Lexi immediately hugged me.

"What happened?!" She asked.

"He left 2 days after he was diagnosed with leukemia and didn't want me to have to see him wasting away. And he survived. He lives in Ontario and we're gonna meet up with him when we have a night off." I smiled and she hugged me tighter.

"I'll tell you more later. Just not when we have an audience." I told her and she nodded.

"Let's sit down. It's late and I'm tired but I don't want to go to bed yet." She whispered and I nodded. She went over to Liam so I went over to Harry. I went to sit next to him but he pulled me down on his lap instead.

"Tonight was amazing. Thank you." I whispered into his chest as he hugged me.

"I'm so happy you found your dad, sweetie." He whispered quietly but Louis heard and snickered a bit.
