As we walked back into the company, my eyes fell onto all the workers, which were placed symmetrically and perfectly in two rows. In front of them they all had one design, which they had worked on for ages and in the middle there was a path for the boss."We will see each other later." Estella mumbled, while rushing to her own desk, which surprisingly had a design in front of it. I didn't know when she had the time to work on that but it was stunning.
I began to sprint to my place too and corrected the sitting of my hair. Fortunately, my mannequin was stood on the white cross already, which was also Estella's work. My heart raced its best and me becoming nervous more and more wasn't helping.
Slowly, the Baroness walked her way over to me and criticized every little bit of the dresses the others had made. Expect from Estella's. "Wonderful. That's how you create a significant piece." Her voice sounded delighted and she kept her head a little higher than before.
Then she walked over to me. Not even giving the dress a look, her eyebrow shot up and she inspected me with a disgusted gaze, before coming to the dress. Without a word her hand reached for the fabrics and cut along the red color, until a new leg gap appeared. Now it had one on both sides.
I was completely frustrated with her behaving like that. I created this design and if she didn't like it then she could've just said so but don't ruin it god forbid. I glanced at Estella with an angry and confused expression lingering on my face. The woman nodded to let me know it was something, that the Baroness always did. Nothing to do.
"Hm. You would have potential, if Estella didn't make this dress." The bosses voice echoed through the hall, while she let the knife flip back into the protection and set her attention to the redhead. Her face glided back from mine immediately, after the Baroness called her name. But she remained silent.
"Estella. You have to focus on yourself, if you truly want to become something in the business world." She paused and inspected her a little longer. "And right now you're heading in the wrong direction. Fix that." She demanded and let her fiery eyes focus on mine.
The Baroness pointed her knife at me and came closer by a feet. "You will have to impress me once more, love. If you would have the nerve to work together with her again-" The woman's eyes wandered to Estella, before continuing her want. "You will be faster on the streets than you could ever imagine." Her well known pause followed.
"And if you, by any chance, would have the talent to actually impress me.. it would be my pleasure to give you the job. Understood?" Her voice sounded intimidating and made me feel extremely uneasy.
I nodded quietly and lowered my gaze. The Baroness smiled satisfied and walked away from me, right into the middle of the two rows. "With that cleared, let's get back to work. Estella. Follow me." She let us know and vanished with my only contact behind a corner.
Sighing from the relief I felt, as this woman was gone out of sight, I lowered my shoulders and was confused about why everyone was this hectic again. We had just finished a design and now we would do it again? That was the whole routine in this company?
Shaking my head out of bewilderment, I rolled the mannequin with my dress on it back into the dark room, before realizing I forgot to undress it. Rolling my eyes at myself, I went back and did my job.
My head was empty once again. I had no idea what to sew together and how to do so. I was completely lost without Estella by my side. Looking around the hall to find an answer for my brain, I remembered the room full of paintings, which the woman had shown me.
Finally having a starting point, I made my way over to it and let my gaze wander around the different paintings. I walked slower than normally, to have a chance to take every little detail in. Right before I came to another painting, a voice turned up behind me.
