{3rd Person POV}

.........

Truth... What is the truth?

Such a simple question. Yet for one small girl that answer was so elusive it was almost frustrating. But that was fine, the girl enjoyed the chase of said truth, and the discovery of many smaller truths, she loved to search and understand, to discover and experiment. She was studious and very hard working; she was energetic and inquisitive. A mind like hers wished to learn and grow, to search the unknown and discover the 'Truth'...

But... Not everyone shared her desire for knowledge. In fact, the people around her cared not about the unknown, and just labelled it as another form of their creator's power... But the little girl didn't believe that. Such simple answer was not able to sate her desire for Truth...

Girl: ''... Master Hermes. I've finished the new edition of 'the dawn of the new era', and I've also added a couple notes to a few other books here''

Hermes: ''Such splendid work Promestein... You truly are the best clerk in all of heaven. Please keep up your good work for lady Ilias's sake''

Promestein: ''Yes... For lady Ilias's sake...''

The little girl with reddish hair and eyes looked at her superior's desk, it stood there looking back at her... A small candle with a burning flame at its peak.

Promestein: ''... Master Hermes, may I ask a question?''

Hermes: ''Sure, go ahead''

Promestein: ''Why does wax melt when fire touches it?''

Hermes: ''Again? I thought we talked about this Promestein. Its because it's influenced by the benevolent power of Ilias. The candle was created with a method bestowed by Ilias, to unravel its mysteries is a sin''

Promestein: ''R-Right... Forgive my impudence''

Such a simple question... Yet it was shot down and given the answer the other angels were created to repeat like broken records. It would hardly have been so bad, but her curiosity was met with ridicule from the other angels. Even if they were lower class workers, even if they didn't have an intellect like hers, they still saw fit to ridicule her desire for knowledge....

How can they be satisfied without trying to understand why certain stuff happens the way it does?... 'Because of Ilias's benevolent power' is not a universal answer...

Hermes: ''Promestein? Have you finished fixing that passage?''

Promestein: ''Please wait a moment. I'll be done in 5 minutes''

Hermes: ''Don't rush through it, take your time''

This is how her days were spent... Writing and explaining the falsehoods on these books that none but the angels will ever read. It was very tiring work, she wanted to do more with her life...

As her brush painted word after word, a butterfly landed on her desk, so little in size yet beautiful all the same. She caught it by the wings, taking a close look at it, inspecting it thoroughly...

Hermes: ''Please don't kill things in this sacred Library. If it bothers you, just release it outside''

Promestein: ''... Why do butterflies fly through the air?...''
