The kid's all sat in the living room faces Nora and Jason. Kalice sat on the couch arm while Kalvin sat in the middle with Layla. Gwendolyn came in the house dropping Norson off hugging everyone before leaving. Norson Looked at everyone and waddled to Kalice. He reached for her. She picked him up and hugged him.
"Hiii little given."
"Hewo. Is everyone okay?"
"Yes we're just having a family meeting."
"Can I be in the meeting too Daddy and Mommy?"
"Sure son." Jason said with a light smile. He clapped getting out of kalice's lap and sat on the couch copying kalvin's serious face.
"What's the meeting about?"
"Your grandmother."
"Miss Katherine? Finally!" Kalice said clapping.
"Not that One buttercup." Kalice then frowned and saw Layla sit quietly turn her head to Jason.
"Oh lay..." Kalice sighed in sympathy.
"Is she dying? Mom?"
"No."
"Then Why am I here?" Layla said getting up. Nora sighed knowing This would happen. Layla hadn't forgiven Margie and neither had Nora fully yet.
"You think it isn't hard for mom?" Kalvin spoke and Layla turned to him.
"I never said that..."
"Then act like it. SIT .DOWN." Kalvin ordered. Layla Sat harshly by Kalvin. Jason was speechless but Kalice was not. The sibling's had a code. If one was out of line to keep each other in check. "Mom what were you saying?" Kalvin said with a innocent smile.
"You didn't even know what I was about to say. THIS could save your life." Nora scolded Layla for the first time in her life.
"How can something That ruined it save it?!" Layla shot back.
"Simple! Your father's brother was part of 412 yes that was bad but if he didn't teach him how to shoot you think he'd protect you like he does?" Nora said and Layla was silent. She couldn't argue with that. "And this decision affects your life! Very much! She could take your siblings away from you." Nora shouted and Layla couldn't believe her ears.
"What?" Kalvin said.
"She's got us trapped. Your 19th birthday is coming soon but unfortunately the adoption papers here can be touched by your biological parents until your 20. " Jason said holding his hands clamped together on his chin. When he did that it meant he was worried.
"Why are they doing this?" Kalice asked standing and pacing the room.
"Terrance wants to use you to manipulate kandace and if Owen hasn't told you a warlord without a queen has no fit for ownership because the women have no role model they'll eventually turn against them. That's Why he wanted to Kill you two. Mostly you Kalice. And I'm sure he wants too now but he can't because Owen was too fast and made you his when he became the Chief. You have Kalvin to thank the most. If he didn't do what he did you would've been poisoned by now." Jason explained and Kalice couldn't believe This. How could they do this to them. Their life was amazing and happy for the past years.
"Fuck." Kalvin mumbled. Kalvin And Kalice looked at Layla like they were those little teenagers Jason picked up from the Franklin house.
"It's your choice miss Layla." Jason told her and Laylas eye's twinked. Hearing Jason saying that woke her up. She then sighed and stood in front of everyone.
"Okay I will just....can we do it as soon as possible because I want This to be in a once in a lifetime thing." Layla said and she went up to her room and shut the door. A knock happened 5 minutes Later.
"Who is it?"
"It's dad."
"Come in." Layla said. Jason came in seeing her staring at the shiny stars in her room. He sat next to her holding her hand.
"You know when you i was 10 I used to pray for you to be my Dad." Layla said and Jason chuckled.
"When I was 10 I prayed for a dad. "
"What happened?"
"I never got One but.....I got to be a Dad and I must say God knew exactly what I needed."
"Can't argue with that one Mister Jason."
"Glad you agree miss Layla." Jason said poking her nose. She giggled and sat up facing him. "You know who used to pray for a Dad?"
"Who?" Layla asked curiously.
"Your mother. She and I can relate on a lot of things that's what Made me understand her more. She is nothing like she used to be when she was your age or kalice's age." Jason explained.
"What was she like?" Layla asked dying to know.. She Heard aunt Gwendolyn talk about their old day's but never The grimy parts.
*She was called the wild kat of the Town. She refused to be an Appleseed. She even fought David once. " Jason explained smiling thinking of his beautiful wife.
"Why?" Layla asked intrigued.
"She was in an abusive relationship with him. David had a Way of making girl's think they weren't Worth it so One day when fought him." Jason told her which made Layla upset.
"Did she win?"
"Oh yeah she beat his ass." Jason said smirking with pride.
"She's totally my mother I'm proud." Layla bragged making Jason laugh.
"We fought sometimes too." Jason added.
"Shut up!" Layla said shocked. It was unheard of to her. Nora and Jason could Never be broken Layla thought.
"Yes we did." Jason assured her .
"Who won?" Layla asked nervously.
"It was a tie. The last fight we had was awkwardly the best thing that happened to our relationship. " Jason explained thinking about it More.
"What do you mean?" Layla asked looking at her father.
"Because during that fight I and her understood we weren't mad at each other we were mad at the one's in our lives. So we promised not to fight like that ever again." Jason said and Layla listened carefully like it was a bedtime story. "What I'm trying to say is....your mother has been fighting her mother for years because she's been angry she took you from us. Margie locked her Up because she was trying to find you. Your mother has you Now so..."
"She doesn't have to fight anymore." Layla finished.
"And neither do you." Jason concluded. Layla fully understood. Her parents fought so they wouldn't have too. She just needed to say what she needed too to Margie.
