Author's Note~
Hello guys! Sorry for lack of updates, had no time lately :'C Over the summer i visited my homeland and vacationed in Turkey so I was a busy busy noodle~
Plus, I have like two chapters typed up on my phone, but for some reason, Wattpad doesn't let me paste. At all. So I had to rewrite everything QnQ YES, EVERYTHING.
One last thing; I lately thought about tweaking the title of this fanfic. Birch. Sorta plain xD
I'm thinking 'Fools under the Birch' might be better? Or 'Under The Birch?' :'D Or keep the original title?
Thoughts, everyone? ;u;

Levi' walk was easy and brisk, along the now painfully familiar path along the hill, a black case swinging by his side. The wind gently brushed his hair backwards as he reached the top and headed towards the white tree.
With a somewhat sad sigh as he saw the birch's leaves dancing above his head, he sat down, amused how a place like this, seemingly full of dirt and germs could calm him down so much.
Levi then hesitantly looked at the black case, the handle of which was still in his hand. It has been awhile, he thought, memories of running around the school with Isabel and Farlan flooded him again, his slightly smaller hand also clutching the handle of the very same black case.
A ray of sun that suddenly reached him through the leaves of the birch and beamed in his face interrupted his thoughts. Levi squinted, shuffling away closer to the trunk, away from the sunlight. Funny how weather others would have found so wonderful annoys me so much. Maybe Hanji was wrong, maybe this whole idea is stupid and... Before he could finish his thought, a loud chirp beside his ear startled him. Letting out a barely audible squeak, Levi tumbled backwards, thankful for the tree trunk that was conveniently behind him.
Annoyed but happy there was no one there around to witness his fall, Levi pulled back his head and stared at the lowest branch above him, to see a small blackbird eyeing him from above. Seeing that he noticed it, the bird chirped happily.
"Quite the singer you are, huh?" chuckled Levi, reaching for his case. "Every singer needs a musician, don't you think?" He opened it to reveal a dark chocolate violin, carefully taking it out and placing it up to his chin. Levi didn't need notes, he only remembered how to play one song and that song he knew by heart.
As the violin's strings sang their sad tune, the lyrics flashed through Levi's head. Come on, skinny love, just last the year...Pour a little salt, we were never here. My my my, my my my, my-my my-my. Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer.
Levi closed his eyes, letting his hand glide over the violin by instinct. Tell my love to wreck it all, cut off all the ropes and-
Levi slowly opened his eyes to find a pair of curious light green eyes staring at him.
"That was beautiful!"
Almost screeching in surprise, Levi jumped to his feet, threateningly holding up the violin with both hands - the bow already fell out of his hand.
The pair of green eyes belonged to a man about his age - younger than him but much taller, as Levi noted with annoyance - with messy brown hair. He was crouching beside the place that Levi was just sitting at.
Springing to his feet, the man quickly stretched out his hands and shook them in an apologetic way.
"Sorry, sorry! Haha, I guess that was a little creepy. I was just walking around the forest, picking berries and then I heard music and well, here I am."
