Next Morning
Yeonjun's POV:
We all got ready for school. Surprisingly, Hyein and I hadn’t argued once today. It felt... unsettling. At School:
I was chatting with Mark and Doyoung when I noticed Hyein and Hayoon walking past us, engrossed in their conversation.“Yaa!” Mark called out.
“What?” Hayoon snapped, turning her head.
“Where are you going?”
“None of your business.”
“You’re so mean,” Mark sulked.
“If you find me mean, I suggest you quit finding me,” Hayoon retorted with a smirk.
“Chill, Hayoon. Mark, we’re just going to the rooftop for some fresh air,” Hyein explained before dragging Hayoon away.
Mark huffed and turned to me. “Are you a child? I asked him "You used to annoy Hyein nonstop. What happened? Don’t tell me you’re falling for her.” mark said
“You!” I pointed at him, flustered.
“Both of you, stop before I make you regret it,” Doyoung said, giving us a look that could freeze the sun.
“Yes, sir,” we muttered, immediately dropping the argument.
---
Hyein’s POV:
After school, I walked to the car alone. Hayoon had left for her piano lessons, and Yeonjun and Sunghoon were nowhere to be seen. Probably in the restroom, plotting some dumb prank.I felt a wave of nausea but brushed it off and got into the car. After a while, the boys showed up, and we drove home in relative silence—a rare miracle.
---
At Home:
I sprawled on the couch, scrolling through my phone while Yeonjun hogged the TV. Sunghoon had gone to his ice-skating practice, sternly warning us not to fight. So far, we were holding up.Bored, I moved closer to Yeonjun. “What movie is this?”
“It’s a horror movie,” he replied without looking at me. “You shouldn’t watch it. It’s scary.”
“How scary can it be? I’m not scared like you.”
“Oh yeah? Let’s turn off the lights, then.”
“Fine. Bring it on.”
I grabbed some popcorn and chips, and soon, the room was dark, with only the flickering screen for light.
---
Yeonjun's POV:
Oh, why did I suggest turning off the lights? I’m not scared... but the atmosphere wasn’t helping. Hyein seemed unaffected, though.By the end of the movie, we were both flinching at every jump scare. Finally, the credits rolled.
“That’s it?” she asked, looking unimpressed.
“Turn on the lights,” I said.
“Why don’t you do it?”
“Are you scared?” I teased.
“No, I’m not. But what if a ghost gets me while I’m walking?”
“You’re unbelievable. Fine, I’ll go—”
“Wait!” She grabbed my sleeve. “Don’t leave me alone!”
We sat there, arguing over who should turn on the lights, until a loud crack of thunder startled us. The power went out completely.
---
Hyein's POV:
"Great. Now what?” I muttered.“We wait for Sunghoon,” Yeonjun said confidently, though his voice cracked slightly.
I smirked. “Are you scared?”
“What do you think?”
---
After Some Time:
“Yeonjun, are you awake?”“No. I’m talking in my sleep,” he said sarcastically.
“Do you think there’s a ghost here?”
“Stop it, Hyein!”
I leaned closer. “What if it’s standing behind you right now?”
“You witch!” he yelped, jumping up.
The rain outside intensified, adding to the eerie vibe.
“Come on, let’s turn on the lights together,” he said.
“No way! What if the ghost grabs one of us?”
“Then it’ll be you. I’ll run,” he said, smirking.
“You jerk!”
Despite our bickering, we braved the darkness together and managed to turn the lights back on just as the doorbell rang.
---
At the Door:
Sunghoon walked in, drenched but smiling. “Milady,” he greeted Hyein with a mock bow before hugging her.“Not so good,” she replied with a smile.
Yeonjun’s jaw clenched. “Can we eat dinner now, or are you two going to continue your rom-com moment?”
---
After Dinner:
We cleaned up and headed to our rooms. But Sunghoon soon knocked on Hyein’s door.“Hyein? Open up!”
No response.
He opened the door cautiously, only for Hyein to jump out from behind it. “Boo!”
“AAH! Why do you always do this?”
“Because it’s fun,” she giggled.
“Help me with my homework,” he grumbled.
As they sat down to study, Yeonjun peered in. “What’s this? A study date?”
“Get lost!” they shouted in unison.
Yeonjun left, muttering, “You two are insufferable.”
But deep down, he couldn’t shake the pang of jealousy.
