Ch 5: "A different perspective"

(Tigry's pov)

Without warning, two months had passed by. Two long months, of course.
Kitty had gotten a place as a chef at the café. She got to demonstrate her ability one day when a colleague of hers got sick and the orders started delaying. She saved the day there, and I'm not going to lie, as a friend, I was proud of her.

It was Summer. She was on vacation from school, and that was just perfect. We were able to spend some more time together, talk about our experiences, and just mess around. Those two months that had passed as probably the sweetest time of my entire life... Were enough to make me realize I was in love with her.

Sometimes, she would just start talking crap about herself, and that made me feel bad. She didn't realize how much of a wonderful being she was. I wanted to tell her; I really did. But instead, all I ever managed to do was interrupt her, saying: "Stop treating yourself like that, have some self-esteem". She would just giggle at my words for no reason, then keep talking as if nothing happened.

At least I kept her away from that topic.

Kitty had also become a hard-working being. I still remembered one morning, she visited me at an alleyway where I had my living with Rash and Peyton. We played around for a little while, and then... She fell asleep on my shoulder. I swear it was super cute, but also a bit concerning. It was like 10 a.m., so why would she be sleepy? Not long after she woke up, she confessed something to me.

Kitty: Oh, it's nothing. I just stayed a bit longer last night at the café. I helped do the dishes and clean up everything after we were all done so I could get a bit more money. You know, I promised I'd help you.

Tigry: Okay, you are taking this too far, aren't you? It's your Summer Break. If you are going to overwork like that, at least don't get up at 6 a.m. just to come to see me!

Kitty: But I promised I would!

I grabbed her shoulders.

Tigry: Then stop overworking. I have been worried sick about you these past few days.

Kitty: I'm sorry, you what? :D

Tigry: NOTHING.

Kitty: You've been worried sick about who?

Tigry: I said nothing.

Kitty: *giggles* Aw, repeat it, it was sweet!

Yeah, we would joke like that sometimes too.

One morning, I got up an hour earlier and immediately started dressing up.

Peyton: *yawns* Dude, it's 8:00 a.m., what the heck are you doing?

Tigry: Today I will have a catch-up with Kitty. You know, to see what I lost from school.

Rash: *walks in* Tigry, go back to sleep, it's still early-

Peyton: But you always keep telling her not to do this, so why are you-

Tigry: I still don't like the idea of her sacrificing part of her youth for me, but I would also hate letting her down. If I've learned something, it's that she won't stop now. Plus-

Peyton and Rash stared at me.

Rash: Plus...?
