The Sacred Twenty-Eight.

A collection of magical families that were able to maintain their blood purity. The truest form of pure. Among the twenty-eight, one family stood out from the rest for producing some of the most famous and infamous witches and wizards of all time. The noble family Black.

The family could care less about anything its members did, with the inclusion of murder, as long as their bloodline continued to stay pure. There was already an uproar within the family for one of the boys, Sirius Black, being placed in Gryffindor rather than Slytherin. Or when the family cast away Cedrella for marrying into the blood-traitorous Weasley family. Today, the bloodline was tainted once again.

Andromeda fell in love with a muggle-born boy named Edward "Ted" Tonks. The family disowned her when they heard of their secret meetings, especially her sisters. Bellatrix was disgusted by Andromeda, how could she even love a mudblood? In Bellatrix's and Narcissa's eyes, it was unthinkable. How would they react if they found out about the biggest disgrace to the Black bloodline happened not just once, but twice?

April 9th, 1978

Andromeda's temples were dripping with sweat as she continued to gasp and pant for air. Her husband's hand is in hers, gripping harder with every contraction and push. Although she had given birth once, it didn't make this one any easier.

"I see the head, just a couple more pushes!" the doctor stated.

Andromeda breathed in as heavily as she could before pushing with all her might. Her grunts got louder with each push and Ted encouraged her to keep going and she was almost done. Suddenly, the room was captivated with cries from a tiny baby and Andromeda couldn't help, but cry tears of joy. Her daughter couldn't have been more beautiful. The doctor smiled and gave her the baby. Ted got closer to Andromeda to have a look at their new addition to the family.

"She's so perfect." Andromeda managed to almost whisper through her weeping.

Ted couldn't help but beam at the two of them.

"What should we name her?" Ted asked.

Andromeda stared out the hospital window and thought back to her family. She couldn't bear the idea of anyone hating her daughter simply because of her blood status. She decided on a name that reflected nobility. Ted stared endearingly as she thought while moving the hair sticking to her face back.

"Adelaide. Adelaide Catherine Tonks."

The couple looked at each other and shared a peck before gazing at their daughter once more.

About an hour later, Ted left St. Mungo's to fetch their first daughter, Nymphadora. The door opened slowly allowing the father to push her daughter slightly ahead of him.

"Okay, Dora. Be as quiet as you can, you don't want to wake her."

Nymphadora walked up to her mom who signaled at the small pod beside her. She peered inside to see a baby with light brown hair similar to her mom's. Nymphadora smiled widely and glanced at both her parents before mouthing 'I'm a sister.' The two snuggled together and smiled at their daughter's joyfulness.

"Hi. I'm your big sister, Nymphadora. You're so cute! We are going to be best friends and I'm going to take care of you. I swear it."

She reached her finger out and was shocked when the baby wrapped her hand around it. The love for her little sister grew immensely at that moment and Nymphadora knew she meant every word she just told her from the bottom of her heart. She will protect her from all harm's way.

Years Later

Adelaide grew up as a happy little girl. Her magic was prominent from the start. She would laugh and flowers would bloom at a rapid pace. Or when she would cry and the lights would go out. Everything about Adelaide was loved by her family. Her curiosity for magic, her eagerness to play outside, and her way of thinking was actually quite mature for her age. The list could go on and on, but today Adelaide wasn't the cheerful girl she usually was.

Unfortunately, today was Nymphadora's first day at Hogwarts. The sisters were quite close, despite the five-year age gap. Adelaide was so used to having her big sister with her almost all the time, so the idea of Nymphadora being gone for practically 10 months was a lot on her. As she stared out the window, she couldn't help but feel tears well in her eyes. She turned her head when she heard a slight knock at her bedroom door.

"Lai. It's almost time to go... Are you crying?"

Her sister walked swiftly to Adelaide and sat by her. Nymphadora held Adelaide's face in her hands and pulled her into a comforting hug. She hushed her little sister's whimpers while running her hand through her hair.

"It's okay Lai. Shhh. It's okay. I'll be back before you even know it."

"But who am I going to play with? You're going to be like a billion miles away."

"I won't be THAT far and you can play with mom and dad while I'm away. Plus when I come back, I'll be able to tell you about all the magic I learned!"

Adelaide wiped away her tears and nodded her head. Although she wanted her sister to stay, she just had to accept the fact that she was going to be having all this fun while she was going to have to wait.

Nymphadora stood up and extended her hand for Adelaide to hold onto as they headed out to the living room.

"Dora! Are all of your trunks packed?" Ted yelled from the front door.

"Yes, dad!"

Andromeda greeted the two girls and started touching up Nymphadora's hair.

"You have your wand?"

"Yes"

"Your robes?"

"Yes"

"What about your owl?"

"Yes, mom! Stop worrying too much. You're going to stress yourself out before we even leave the house." Nymphadora groaned.

"I know, I know. Before we go, let me take a picture of you two."

The two sisters stood hand in hand smiling as their mom snapped a picture. The family then left their house to go to King's Cross where they would pass through platform 9 ¾. Adelaide still felt sad about her sister going off to Hogwarts and watched with envy as she went on the train and waved goodbye to the Tonks. All that was on Adelaide's mind was she couldn't wait until she turned 11 and she'll join her sister at Hogwarts.

A/N:

Hi guys! This is like my first ever fanfic so please be respectful of that! I also would like to add that I'm starting this on October 23rd, 2022, so it will take some time for updates. I love the Harry Potter series so I'll try my best to deliver a good story. Wish me luck!
