I ran back to grab my backpack and walked with him.

Y/n: Thank you, for helping me.

Man: It's rare to see foreigners around. Especially from Earth. Which Earth are you from?

Wait, what does he mean "which"?

Y/n: The, Earth.

Man: Are your trees green or blue?

Y/n: Green.

Man: Ah that one.

We walked to his pick up truck which looked like it was from the 1940s. This place surely is odd. I gazed at him more and saw a scar on his right leg. I wonder where he gotten it from.

*door closes*

Man: Alright.

Y/n: Where are the seatbelts?

Man: What belts?

Y/n: Seatbelts.

Man: We don't have them here.

He started driving, this place eerily mimics Earth.

Y/n: I don't wanna be rude but I haven't gotten your name.

Man: My name? Tosh.

Y/n: Nice to meet you, Tosh. Thanks for helping me.

Tosh: You need to be careful around these parts, don't wanna come across some SPs.

Y/n: SP?

Tosh: The secret police, they wear red and white uniforms. If they saw someone like you, they would arrest and execute on the spot. They suspect anyone who looks different as spies. You'll need a disguise.

We arrived at his ranch. An orange house in the sea of purple with a white picket fence, just like what you would imagine a prairie in the American countryside.

Tosh: I've got some blue dye, we need to change your hair.

My hair? I never knew my hair can be a problem. I looked around and saw a painting of a woman and a little girl. I made a mistake when I tried touching it. It dropped smashed onto the floor.

Tosh: What was that?!

I panicked, but it was too late.

Tosh: What are you doing?!

He grabbed me by the collar and forced me onto the wall.  He was visibly fuming with anger.

Tosh: I can kill you anytime you prick! Just tell me you're a spy so I can see you executed.

Y/n: I'm not! I'm sorry! It was a mistake! Please let me go.

He dropped me onto the floor. He cleaned the glass shards. I picked myself up. I heard weeping so I went to Tosh to see if he was okay.

Y/n: Tosh, are you, crying?

Tosh: This is the only picture I have of my wife and daughter. The only memory I have.

Y/n: I'm sorry, what happened to them?

Tosh: They were killed by the spies. My daughter was playing in the fields, a spy attacked her. My wife tried rescuing our daughter, but she-

Y/n: I'm sorry to hear that.

Tosh: I wish I had a chance to change everything. Meet them again.

He slowly calmed down.

Y/n: I'm sorry, It's my fault. I broke it.

I helped him pick up the glass shards. I put the glassless frame on the table next to us.

Tosh: This person you're looking for, who is it?

Y/n: It's my partner. She works for the military. The details are a bit, complicated. When did your wife and daughter died?

Tosh: 11 years ago. Back then, the spies rampaged through this area, mercilessly killing people. For what? They want to re-conquer land that was theirs? They kill innocent lives for their own interest. What do they want to prove? Everything was going great, but because of one person's ego. It all changed.

Y/n: I have no interest in politics. But, I'm sorry for your lost. A life lost is still a life lost.

Tosh: It's alright. I guess the only cure is time. The dye is over here, let's getcha ready.

He brought a bucket and dyed my hair dark red so I would blend in better. He told me everything that happened here, it made me slightly nervous. I asked him about the secret police.

Tosh: Just avoid them if possible, they won't stop you if you don't act suspiciously like jumping over a fence or running through traffic.

Y/n: Got it. Hey, why are you helping me? Like this is really so much, I don't think I can repay you in any way.

He stopped scrubbing my hair. I was wondering why, I didn't want to get on his bad side again so I didn't turn around.

Tosh: You reminded me of my daughter.

I didn't want to reply, it's hard moving on from loving someone.

Tosh: Do you love your partner?

Y/n: I do.

He nodded.

Tosh: I can feel that. I was once in your shoes, maybe we're not so different after all.

He brought me a mirror, I was surprised to see how much my look has changed. I'm ok with it,  whatever it takes for me get to Irys.
