Mal stood afar and looked down, leaning against the concrete terrace in one of the balconies overlooking the rose garden, at the celebration that was still going on beneath her as she listened to the music and sounds of people dancing and cheering at the huge announcement since the party with the new arrivals had died down.
It was definitely a hectic day for her with everything that had happened not long ago, Auradon was under a spell by Audrey and she disclosed who her father is and finally making Ben's dream come true, breaking down the barrier once and for all.
It was definitely obvious that Mal was overwhelmed to say the least. She relished the feeling of joy and excitement and she began to wonder about her future.
Looking down at her hand, the bright purple diamond glowed as the light shined down on her. She then looked down at the people having the time of their lives below. Mal couldn't still get over it. She was actually going to be not only the Queen of Auradon but the Queen of the isle too. And she was gonna be Ben's wife. These were now gonna be her's and Ben's people. How things has changed over time Mal thought. She was so excited to truly show the difference she can make for the people in the isle as well as the people of Auradon.
But suddenly doubts filled her thoughts as she began to think about the bad things that could possibly happen. What if I'm not good enough to become Queen? I mean there has never been a Queen who is a villain. What if everyone hates the changes that we'll decide on? What if there's chaos between everyone? It'll all be my fault. I made the decision to break down the barrier permanently. All these doubts and worries about consequences began to build up as Mal's eyes slowly turning emerald green. Gripping the fence with shaky hands, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath to cool her down.
The feeling of two strong arms wrapping around her waist from behind startled Mal until she realised who it was by the comfort and warmth she felt. She melted into him, leaning back against his chest, Mal relished in the feeling of Ben's arms around her, not even realising how tense she was as she opened her eyes to turn around and face Ben, who had a look of worry and concern on his face.
"Hey, are you alright? I was looking for you everywhere." Ben asked, gently brushing a strand of her hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear.
"Yeah I'm fine, I just needed a break from everything and just think." Mal said.
"Think about what?" Ben asked with his eyebrows raised.
"How I'm actually going to be your wife and the Queen." Mal said looking down at their intwined hands.
There was a moment of silence before Ben asked worriedly with a small frown "Mal do you have any second thoughts on marrying me?"
Bewildered Mal immediately said "No of course not, well yes," as Ben raised one of his eyebrows, knowing that she's not telling him the truth "but not about becoming your wife, I'm worried that I might not be the Queen that your supposed to have by your side." Mal looked down at the ground, not wanting to see Ben's reaction.
Lifting her head up with his thumb, so that she was looking at his eyes, he asked "Why would you think that your not gonna be a good queen?"
"Because I wasn't raised up with the responsibility of being queen. What if breaking down the barrier leads to more problems, its gonna be my fault as I was the one that brought it up. What if no one likes me as the Queen? I can't have them going against you cause of me. There's so many reasons why." Mal stated.
"Mal it doesn't matter that you grew up differently, your a great and confident leader, you respect and care about the people and their future. And you made my dream come true by getting rid of the barrier permanently. But most of all everyone loves you for being a courageous woman that is dedicated to her kingdom. So what's there to worry about?" Ben said smiling down at her.
"I guess your right." Mal said, sighing as she wrapped her arms around Ben's waist. She looked at him and pressed a soft kiss against his lips. "Thank you for always being there for me, I love you!" "I love you too Mal!" Ben said.
"I can't wait to be your wife! We'll be together for the rest of our lives." Mal said smiling at Ben. "We'll be together forever and always, no matter what." Ben said kissing the top of her head.
'Forever and Always' they both thought.
