Chapter 8: The second trial

A/n: Hello, It's been a while. A lot of things happened in my life both good and bad. But anyways I'm back writing again and this was supposed to come out on Sunday but I finished it today. I'll try to update once a week. I hope you enjoy the chapter. (Also, If there are typos please let me know. My phone keeps autocorrecting ''you're" to "your" and it's annoying me.)

The Russian roulette didn't claim anyone's life unfortunately.

I kept watching on the monitors because I didn't really feel like going back down yet. The most important thing for me to do right now is observe. The most important things I had to do on the first floor were done anyhow.

Obviously, I need to find the stupid laptop. But I am not able to do that at this moment in time. Why? I do not know it's location and I can't search with everyone there.

My best bet is to wait for Shin to come back to it and leave it again. That way, I can confiscate it without being noticed. And, at least this way I can see more places at once.

I caught sight of a conversation happening between Sara, Joe and Kanna. That piqued my interest.

"Kanna just wanted to ask you... About her sister... Please... Give me an answer... Back then... Could Kanna have... Actually save her sister...?" Kanna asked "I was disoriented... So I didn't hear what everyone else said. But you and Joe... And Mishima and Nao... You all had the same first trial, right...? Kanna... Could Kanna... Have saved her?"

A part of me wanted to go answer her, but the other, more rational part of me wanted to see how this will play out and if I can use this against Sara.

Yet, before she could say anything, Mishima joined the conversation "Oh my, miss Kanna. Reko and Nao were looking for you, you know? I heard you talking here, so I came over."

Kanna turned to him and said "Mr. Mishima... Please tell me... I..."

"...You were unlucky, miss Kanna." Mishima told her.

"Eh...?" Kanna said confused.

"Because we only had one key, we... We had to remove the other restrains by force." He lied "...Luckily, Miss Nao had myself and miss Sara had Joe. Due to our having a strong man, we bearly managed to survive."

Now what kind of misogyny is this. Both Sara and Kugie are stronger than them.

Kanna started shaking "No...! That's a lie... It can't be..."

"I... It's not a lie! This is the truth, Kanna!" Joe said, playing along.

"I suppose it was a trial of... Both assessing the situation and of might. For you and your sister... It was a trial with hardly any chance of success..." Mishima continued to lie to her.

"I... I won't believe it! I won't! You're all trying to deceive me..." Kanna said and rightfully so.

"It's true, Kanna." Sara said. This is what I have been waiting for.

"S...Sara..." Kanna said weakly.

"E... Even if it sounds like a lie... It won't change reality..." Sara lied again "We're all telling you... the truth..."

Kanna was too stuned to speak. Sara was playing with her weak timid heart. How could you do that Miss Sara?

"Miss Kanna... You regret it, yes?" Mishima asked.

"I... Kanna..." Kanna said trebling "...Killed her sister... Her sister was frantically trying to help! But Kanna's an idiot... She didn't listen..." It's sad. True. But still sad.

"What was your sister like...?" Mishima asked.

"...Sister... My sister was... kind..." Kanna said "Even when we fought... She'd never be cruel... She was always thinking about Kanna... Why didn't she use the key for herself?!" Ehh... Because it wouldn't work but she might find that out later. Her sister was not that selfless.
