Shame on me

As a month went by Daniel had forgotten about the whole lead thing and resumed work as normal. He arrived at his usual time so he could sit and converse amongst his friends and co-workers.

"Daniel!" Milo shouted while approaching Daniel.

Daniel noticed a look of panic on her face.

"What is it Milo? What's wrong?"

Milo replied " Your wife man she has been in a bad car wreck!" Milo exclaimed as tears formed in her eyes.

Without saying anything Daniel hopped in his car and sped to the hospital his wife had been taken to.

Daniel's wife Ashley whom he had been with 8 years at that point was his whole world and the fact his world was in serious danger frightened him to his core.

As Daniel reached the Hospital he burst in the main lobby and asked about his wife.

The receptionist told him sit and wait and the doctor would be with him in a minute.

Daniel had been sitting in the waiting area for what seemed like hours when finally a doctor came out and said "Blackhart?" As Daniel jumped up and said that that was him the doctors face hung low. "Im sorry to say this Mr. Blackhart, but we did all we could." As Daniel heard those words fall from the Doctors mouth he fell to his knees and let out the most blood curdling scream no human had heard before.

As tears fell from his face the doctor gently put his hand on his shoulder and said "Would you like to see her?" Shakily Daniel nodded.

When he walked into the operating room which seemed as cold as the artic ice, Daniel saw a body lying on a table with a white sheet draped over it.

The doctor made a nodding motion to another staff member at the hospital and they uncovered the top part of the sheet. Daniel recoiled in horror as lying there was the love of his life, still as a statue. He put his fingers on top of her head, his fingers sorting through her long black hair and kissed her forehead. He whispered in her ear "I'll see you in Valhalla my love." Daniel then left that cold icy room to go outside.

As he did he noticed his phone was ringing and the caller ID read "Work."

Daniel answered the phone with tears still falling. "Hello" he said trying to not cry.

"Hello Mr. Blackhart, this is Issac here in Human Resources i was calling to inform you that you no called no showed for your regularly scheduled shift."

Daniel kept his cool and told Issac the whole story.

When he got done Issac replied "im sorry for your loss, but unfortunately rules are rules and I am afraid we have to terminate your employment."

Upon hearing this Daniel filled with rage shouted back on the phone "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" Issac was taken back by the response. "Daniel you need to calm-" before he could even finish his statement Daniel interrupted by shouting "MY WIFE JUST DIED! ALL YOU SELFISH ASSHOLES CAN THINK ABOUT IS YOURSELF'S?! As Daniel continued shouting he ended his conversation by saying "Go to Hell!" At that point he abruptly hung up.

Daniel was feeling a cascade of emotions, anger, sadness, enraged, betrayed.

He knew that this would not go unanswered.

He finally reached the point where he had finally snapped and would make someone pay.
