CHAPTER 2

Well, my first day of school was interesting. I met the head bully of the school and a few vampires only to then let my dragon come to the surface, just a little, of course. If I let it go all the way, I will end up shifting, and we can't have that. "Hey, you okay?" the girl sitting next to me bumped my shoulder. I studied her feather, she had dark grey hair that fell to her shoulders and grey eyes. Quite a bit of a built body and some height to her and her scent is... wolf. "Yeah, perfectly fine. I just get lost in my thoughts Quite often", she nodded her head and said "your the new guy right". "Yup, my name is Justin." I gave her my hand to shake.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Justin. I hope you are enjoying your first day at our lovely school," she said with a huge smile. "School is school no matter where you go and to be honest, I don't like school," the bell rang, so I quickly packed up my stuff and left without saying anything else. I understand that is a little bit rude, but I do not like to talk to people at all. At least the day is over, and I can finally go home. I took out my phone and texted my aunt, and since I was not paying attention to where I was walking, I ended up walking into someone. The stranger fell to the ground, dropping everything he was carrying.

I bent down and started to pick up all his books and papers while saying, "I am so sorry, I was not looking where I was walking." The stranger picked up his glasses and stood up. He was a boy, probably the same age as me. He had light orange curly hair, big round glasses, and orange eyes. His scent was a fox, but there's something different about it that I couldn't put my finger on. I was looking into his eyes and, for some reason, couldn't pull away. My dragon then started to go crazy in the back of my mind. I was pulled out of my trance when my phone started to ring, I shoved his things into his hands and rushed out of the school.

Pov: Nicholas

Who was that, "Hey Nick, are you okay?" Lora ran up to me. I turned to her and said, "Yeah, I am fine, I get shoved to the ground all the time. Do you know who that is? " She nodded her head and said, "Yes, I do. I was just in class with him, he's the new kid and I think he said his name was Justin. " I went back to putting my books back in my locker like I was before I got shoved to the floor. "Do you know what he is?" I just noticed that he didn't smell like a human. "You picked up on his scent as well, weird, isn't it. Never smelt anything like it", his scent was weird. I wonder what he is, "We should get going or we are gonna be late." Lora picked up her bag from the ground and led the way.

The walk to the pack house took no more than 30 minutes. Since the school sits on the edge of town, we can go straight from the school to the pack house. Today was the alpha's son's eighteenth birthday, only three more years before he became alpha. This is the alpha's son, Thomas Wild, and it is his eighteenth birthday, which is a big deal, so the entire pack has been invited.

The pack house was just this rustic-looking mansion in the middle of the woods. The alpha and his family lived there, along with all the most important wolves in the pack. The rest of them live in houses in the pack territory or in the town. The wolf pack isn't the only shifter group in this town, after it's a big forest. There's the Red Water clowder, which is where all the feline shifters are, and lastly, is the United, which is where you will find all the other shifters. The ones that are not canine or feline, I don't know much about them, though.

We came up to the pack house and it was quiet, mainly because we were very early. The party only starts when the sun sets, we get here early to help set up, and by doing that, I can leave before the actual party starts. We entered the mansion, and the alpha came up to us, we both said: "Afternoon alpha. We are here to help set up for tonight. " He gave us a slight nod and left. We went to Mrs Wells and asked what we could help with. Mrs Wells is the head is staff in the pack house "afternoon you two, I assume you are here to help set up." We nodded our heads, and she said, "Okay then, you guys can help us hang up the lights."

We grabbed some lights and went into the ballroom to hang them. There were already three people here hanging up some of the lights. We joined them and just after 2 hours we were finished so we went on setting up the tables. When we were done, the sun was already gone, and people were busy starting to fill the room. "Are you sure you don't want to stay? It will be fun," Lora is still trying to convince me to stay for the party, but it is not gonna work. "Leave it, Lora, I'm not staying for the party. I am going home to watch Netflix then go to bed", she gave out an annoyed huff before giving up "Fine I guess I will see you tomorrow then. " "I doubt that mainly because this is going to be a teenage party. Chances are you will be so hung over you won't even be able to get out of bed tomorrow. "I picked up my bag and hugged Lora goodbye. "We can only hope so." Lora gave me my phone and left to go join a group of girls busy giggling about something.

I left the pack house and made my way to the town so I could go to the library. I spent most of the night there studying and finishing my homework. I didn't even notice the time go by, I only stopped when the old lady who is the librarian came up to me and said, "Sweetie, the library is closing in a few minutes." I nodded my head and packed up my stuff. I said goodbye to the old lady, and while I was walking out the door, I pulled out my phone to look at the time. It's only seven, what am I going to do until Mom comes home. We live in one of the human neighbourhoods as my mom works at a nearby zoo. She doesn't make much money, so the alpha let's as stay in one of the houses that belongs to the pack. It's much, but it is more than enough. It got 3 rooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room. The house itself is not big, but us foxes don't take up much space.

I made it to the white-wall, black-roofed house and took my keys out, and went in. We don't have much furniture, the kitchen has the average kitchen supplies but the rest of the rooms in the house are quite empty. We only use the kitchen, our rooms, and the bathroom. So there's nothing more than a single couch in the living room and a small round dining table with three chairs. We don't use the living room or the dining room. When mom is not at the zoo she is goes to some town away to help out at their zoo, so the only time we use the kitchen is when I or my sister make food and even then we usually eat alone. I pulled out some leftovers from last night from the fridge and warmed up the pasta in the microwave. I sat in silence and ate my food, as there was not much else to do. Once I was finished, I cleaned my plate and went to the bathroom down the hall to take a quick shower. Once I finished there, I got dressed in my solar system pyjamas and went to my room. My room was quite similar to the rest of the house. All I had was my bed, a nightstand with a single lamp, and my desk. I had one of my walls covered in shelves that were all filled with books, and my desk was covered with other homework I was yet to do. I put my phone on charge and climbed in bed. It was not long before sleep took me over.
