"Tamaki, Shizue is in trouble."

"How much trouble?" Tamaki asked, his blood running cold.

Kyoya's voice dropped to a whisper. "Kayli is holding her at gunpoint. She says if you don't show up, she's going to kill her."

Now Tamaki was riding in the limo, every host aside from Haruhi sitting in loud silence. Tamaki stared out the window, ignoring them all, his nerves close to consuming him completely. So many problems, so many questions, so much--crap was going on... First he comes this close to kissing Haruhi--in her own home..., then Kayli shows up unexpectedly, expecting him to take her back, then his grandmother! And Haruhi running away and getting injured God knows in what way... And the whole sister thing, AND NOW THIS?!?! Could things get worse?

A little voice in the back of his head answered the rhetorical question. Yes. Yes, yes it could.

Tamaki rolled his eyes in exasperation. Be silent up there, he thought. I'm trying to calm down. It would be no good for anyone if I met Kayli with a frantic appearance.

Why did she take Grandmother hostage? What could she get out of it? I thought she loved Grandmother... She was always the favorite of my girlfriends... She even came close to becoming my wife because Grandmother liked her so much. So why?

"Tamaki, we're here."

Takashi's deep voice knocked him out of his thoughts. He glanced to everyone's face, seeing the worry and the friendship there, then took the deepest breath of his life...and opened the car door.

The sun was bright and high in the sky, beating down on Tamaki's back. He jogged into the hospital, his heart racing in his chest; the only thing he could think was God, if there is a God, please, help me.

The halls and the turns and the doctors and nurses seemed to go on forever. They did fly by though. He was running as fast as he could, which he was sure was against the rules, but at a time like this, who cared? Finally, he came across the hall that held the room his grandmother was in. And not two seconds later, he burst through the door.

There she was, captivating and deadly, a handgun pointed at his grandmother, who was, bless her, soundly asleep. A few nurses and a doctor stood in the corner, watching with fright in their eyes.

Kayli looked to Tamaki--she had tears rolling down her cheeks, her chin quivering. But at his face she smiled widely. "Tamaki," she choked out. "I'm so glad you're here..."

Tamaki did his best not to let his eyes flit to the gun. He did his best not to raise his hands like she was dangerous, because that would probably end up setting her off. And he did his best not to think about Haruhi. He thought about the lovely times he shared with Kayli, the times when she wasn't absolutely fucking insane.

"Kayli," Tamaki began, "what are you doing?"

Kayli shrugged with a broken smile. "It's the only way to get your attention. Right? All you think about now is your beloved host club, your beloved Haruhi, and most of all, not your ex girlfriend who so kindly decided to drop by and take you back." Kayli laughed a short laugh, making the gun wiggle around in the air. Tamaki tensed, ready for anything. "You are just the most spoiled brat I've ever known. Why won't you take me back?" she wondered in a tiny whisper. "What does Haruhi have that I don't? Why can't we just be the way we used to?"

Tamaki shook his head, smiling at her gently while bile rose in his throat. He knew he would have to lie; it was the only way. "Kayli," he began, swallowing back the disgust. "I do want you. Haruhi is just my friend. She needed me at the time, that's all. You're the only one I see."

His host abilities kicked in and he stepped forward, a confidence he didn't feel taking over his body. "Kayli, come here," he whispered so that only she could hear. "I want to hold you. May I?"

Kayli's tears continued, but he suspected they were happy tears by the way she smiled so brightly. "You want me?" she breathed. "You really want me?"

"Yes, of course," he said. He held out his hand. "Come here, please. Let me hold you in my arms one more time."

Kayli ran forward, hand still gripping the gun, and flung herself into Tamaki's arms. He had to admit, he did miss her a tiny bit. He had always loved her scent, the way she felt in his arms and against his chest, and the way she breathed when they were together.

Tamaki breathed deeply and held her close, gripping her sides as if he never wanted to let go. He buried his head into her neck, like he used to, and pressed his lips to the skin of her smooth throat. He felt Kayli breath a long sigh of releif. They were finally together again.

"Kayli," Tamaki began, recalling his mission.

"Hm?"

"Will you give me the gun?"

Kayli paused and slowly pulled back to look at him. Her lovely sea eyes assessed him suspiciously. "Why?" she wondered.

"Well, Kayli, I don't want anyone getting hurt," he whispered, reaching up to tuck a strand of blond hair behind her ear. "Especially not you," he added.

Kayli pursed her lips and looked around the room. Then an idea seemed to spark in her eyes. "Kiss me," she challenged. "Kiss me and I'll give you my gun."

Tamaki blinked, Haruhi invading his thoughts. Did he want to kiss Kayli? On some level, he knew, yes. Could Haruhi find out? Yes. Would she care? Probably. Would she understand? Hopefully.

"Okay," he agreed in a serious tone. Kayli smiled his favorite smile and leaned up. Tamaki shut his eyes, and something he hadn't felt in a long time pressed against his mouth.

Kayli's lips.

Tamaki brought his hand up to cup her cheek, tilting her head back out of habit from kissing her. Their lips seemed to know each other, moving together like two perfect dance partners. A voice in the back of his head whispered, This is the way it's supposed to be.

Kayli surrounded him. Her scent tickled his nose, her body pressed against his, and her little sounds of affection blocked out everything else. He couldn't focus on anything but her. He kissed her with all of his heart and soul, pouring every ounce of his being into her, feeling her do the same. That's when he knew he wasn't over Kayli...he still loved her.
