"Wake up." I heard, although I did fully comprehend what the voice said, I couldn't figure out who was saying that to me. I opened my eyes and saw a big shadowy figure, a dragon to be more specific... wait, a drAGON? WHAT THE- oh yeah, yeah... nevermind, it was my dad. "I have only one more thing to teach you, for now that is. Your mother will be back at the middle of the day, so we have little time." He said.
I stood up, and walked with him for a while. We came back to the place where I managed to take him down, some marks of the impact were still there, like cracked rocks and etc. He stood in the same position as last time, just staring at me intensly, however, he sat down not so long after.
"What's the feeling of using the air?" He asked. "And before you awnser, you don't need to say it out loud, I can read your mind for some seconds when you're ready." Huh, so my mom REALLY did read my mind that time.
The feeling of using air? Well, it was like using a leg or an arm, it felt good to use it. "Feeling? Like. Good. Or. Bad. Or. Air. Itself?" I asked after I realized that he may had asked for the feeling of the contact with air.
"Both." He said. Okay... well, the awnser is that using air is good, but the feeling of it? It feels like I'm touching water to be exact. I don't know... It felt like I was doing these things you do as a kid, where you pretend to waterbend and use your 'cool powers' by making waves. But how do I say that without being too... suspicious? Like, I don't want to tell them that I'm a reeincarnated being, what if they hate humans like in the stories?
Okay, think Dante, think... when I touched the mana and it awnsered my call, it felt like I was playing in the water, but when I used it, it turned into air and was rushing towards Eliseus... so it's like splashing water, since the moment I touch it feels like water, but after that, it feels like I'm pushing air... does that makes sense? It makes for me, and everyone have different feelings right?
"Okay. Ready." I said to dad, and the moment I said that, those inconsistent yellow lines appeared on him again, and one of them appeared right on my neck, and I instantly felt a connection to my dad's mind.
'Say it.' He said to me mentally. I guess I just need to- 'I can't keep this much longer, just say it.' Okay, okay. The feeling is good, and it feels like I'm splashing an water pond, however, the moment I do so, the water turns into air, and gets out of my control.
The yellow lines faded, and dad closed his eyes. We spent two or three minutes silent. But he broke the silence by opening his eyes. "Your mind is... strange. I never had that much trouble maintaining a connection. But your awnser is an good one." He said, and stood up.
"However, mana is not supposed to get out of your control too easily. You can't let anything have too much freedom, neither letting it have almost none of it. There's a balance you must follow. And that's precisely what you'll learn today, to keep mana in its place." He made a white flame again, but this time, he let it consume his right paw. "Try to imbue mana with your claw. The way mana behaves is like an liquid, but if you let it too free, it will turn into a gas-like thing and will go away."
I gazed at my hand, and the green mana was still arround me, and so, I condensed it in my right paw as well, but it was hurting to keep it in. So I tried to put it out, just like my father, and it blew away instantly, in a air slash. Fortunately, the air wasn't that strong to cut through my scales, but it did make me step backwards.
At the sight of the air slash, my dad dissipated his flame and sighed. "No, Dante. You need to make it obey you, but not in a forced way, you need to earn mana's respect. Ask for its help, but if it doesn't yields, convince it. It will help you no matter what, it's just teasing you." He said.
So I tried again, and this time, it started to hurt more than before, I kept going, and I could feel the mana asking me for leave, and as much as I wanted to do so, I didn't. But soon after, I asked for it to stay outside for a while, but not go away. It went outside in a single weak air slash, but it returned, and kept spinning arround my right paw.
