"Damn it Kim! C'mon baby please! You can't leave me! Darlin' please!" I pleaded. I saw the paramedics rushing over. "Is she going to be okay? Please help her," I begged.
"Vitals are dropping, administer an IV now! Pupils are unresponsive. Weak pulse, shallow brea....SHE ISN'T BREATHING! Tube her now! She's crashing! Start CPR! 1 2 3 4 5 6, I've got a pulse! Come on sweetie, don't leave us now. Name? Age? Occupation?" the female paramedic asked as they were hooking her up to a bunch of machines in the ambo.
"Kimberly Burgess, 26, works as a patrolman down at Station 21," I said.
"Okay, you can ride with us," said the male paramedic. "Hop in."

As we pulled up to Chicago Med, there were a bunch of doctors waiting for us.
"Female, age 26, fractured skull. She crashed twice before we got here," said the female paramedic.
Alright, get her into emergency surgery now!" The doctor ordered. Before I let go of her hand, I squeezed it one last time. "Please don't leave me baby," I whispered to her. "I love you so much; I can't lose you darling."

"Anything yet?" Officer Sean Roman, Kim's partner, asked nervously.
"Not yet," I said, trying to hold back my tears, which didn't work as they slowly rolled down my cheek.
"She's strong, she'll make it," Roman said to me. "Intelligence is still at the scene trying to find evidence."

After about 20 hours, the doctor came out and walked towards us. I stood up and asked, "Did she make it?"
"Detective Ruzek, she's in a coma right now, and we won't know how much her injury affected her until she wakes up, if she wakes up. Would you like to see her?" the doctor asked.
"Yes doc, please," I begged. "She's in the ICU, room four. She's lost a lot of blood though," the doctor said.

As I walked in, I saw her lying in the bed. She looked so lifeless, the color drained out of her. "C'mon baby, please wake up soon darling" I pleaded. At this point I was bawling, but I couldn't hold it in any longer. "Please baby, don't leave me. I love you so much Kim. Please don't leave darling," I begged. I pulled a chair over and drifted off to sleep, holding her hand.
