Here it is Chapter III. Enjoy!

______

Four years had passed since Ilsa and Ethan had come together, relishing a life of normalcy. Gone were the days of dangerous missions, lies, and betrayals. They were now deeply in love, grounded by trust, confidence, and a profound understanding of each other. As adults, they still delighted in embarking on spontaneous adventures, such as romantic trips to places like Venice, Italy.

Ethan had fallen completely in love with Ilsa. He knew the nuances of her personality, from her favorite color and style choices to her culinary preferences and her passion for classical music, especially opera. He understood what brought her joy, what tested her patience, and what made her irate, though the latter was a rare occurrence. Most importantly, he appreciated that she never kept her feelings bottled up. Open communication was the key to their thriving relationship.

Yet, there was a part of Ilsa that remained a mystery to Ethan, her past. Ilsa had difficulty discussing her history, particularly her life before her time with MI6. Raised in an orphanage, she was reluctant to revisit her past. While Ethan empathized with her, he longed to understand her better, to uncover the missing pieces of her life before they met. He knew she had been alone for much of her childhood, unable to relate to her peers.

Ethan, on the other hand, had been more forthcoming about his past, sharing the most pivotal details of his life, including his early years, his decision to leave his parents' farm, and the regrets he felt, especially now that his parents were gone.

He understood Ilsa needed time to open up, and he was determined not to rush her. Instead, he wanted her to feel safe sharing what she wanted when she was ready. However, that moment had yet to come, even after years of shared experiences. He loved her deeply, knowing that she reciprocated the sentiment, even though she often referred to herself as "really bad at conversation."

Tonight was different, though. Tonight, Ethan intended to ask Ilsa to marry him. He wanted to create a special occasion that aligned with her love for opera and classical music, hoping to make it the most romantic date they had ever shared in their four years together.

Ethan glanced at his watch, realizing they had only ten minutes left before they needed to leave their hotel room. Ilsa emerged from the bathroom, leaving him momentarily speechless. "You are beautiful," he managed to say, in awe of her. "Thank you, darling. You look stunning too. Are we ready?" Ilsa replied. "Yes, let's go. Otherwise, we're going to be late," Ethan responded with a smile.

Exiting their hotel room, they made their way to the opera in Venice, Italy. As they arrived, Ethan could sense Ilsa's nervousness. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Yes, sorry, but the last time I was here, it wasn't a great experience," Ilsa confessed. "This time is different. It's you and I, and nothing else," Ethan assured her, taking her hand as they entered the venue.

Ilsa couldn't help but smile, marveling at how Ethan always managed to find the silver lining in any situation. After the opera, Ethan planned to take her to a lovely and romantic restaurant.

In the bustling crowd, Ethan's eyes fell upon a figure he had hoped never to see again—the White Widow, dressed in her signature white attire and flashing a smile. Ethan froze. Ilsa noticed his distress and followed his gaze, realizing that the rest of her night would not go as planned. The White Widow motioned for them to follow her with her entourage.

Ethan and Ilsa exchanged glances, each harboring distrust for the White Widow. However, her sudden appearance after four years raised questions that couldn't be ignored. Ilsa looked at Ethan, her eyes filled with confusion and regret. "I know," he said softly, taking her hand, and together they walked toward the White Widow, uncertain of what lay ahead.

I am so sad about the actual scene. I wished they would have beeen together, even though I understand Rebecca Ferguson's initial thought about her character, Ilsa Faust. So let's dream a little.
