Liam's POV

"Hey, you know how I keep asking Garrett to give me back my hoodie?" Mason asked.

"Yeah" I said standing up from my position and added more weight to the barbell "What about it?" Ansel asked not bothering to look up at Mason. He was busy copying Mason's homework

"Well remember how you guys said that he lived on that housing development on Spaulding?" he started and Ansel nodded "So I went there and guess what? That housing development is still in development!"

"So?" I asked then started lifting weighs again.

"There's no houses yet. So, unless this dude lives in some kind of backhoe, there's something he's not telling us." he said "Then there's this other dude man, he's acting really strange-"

I got up from my seat and added an additional 90lbs to the barbell and I continued pressing while Mason kept talking

"-running to school for no reason, disappearing at parties...used to be my best friend"

"Uhuh" I just replied not really listening to what Mason was saying. I was about to start pressing again when Mason spoke up.

"And apparently he's on steroids"

"You're not actually try to lift that are you?" he asked. I sat up and examined how much weight I had to lift.

"Are you all right?" Mason asked sitting down "I mean is it about the game tonight?"

"I'm fine. It's just a scrimmage" I said sharply.

Ansel looked up from his work and furrowed his eyebrows at me  then exchanged looks with Mason. Mason sighed and looked me straight in the eyes "You know who you're against right?" Mason asked

"Yeah, I mean no. I must have missed the announcement" I replied then both of them exchanged another worried look.

"Liam" someone suddenly called out my name by the door. I turned my head to see Anais giving me look of sympathy" It's your old school, Devenford Prep"

Hearing that we were against my old school made angry...made me furious. I can feel an increase of heart rate and decided that I'd better go, be alone and let off steam for a while. I clenched my knuckles into fist then stood up from my spot.

"I better get changed" I spat and stormed off. Passing by Anais without even looking straight into her emerald eyes. I was afraid of what might happen if I tried to take a glimpse. Two possibilities ran through my mind. Either I calm down or wolf out in front of her and exposing myself to Mason.

I was walking furiously with Anais trailing me from behind. She kept on calling my name but I didn't bother to stop walking or even looking back at her.

Finally I reached my destination. I placed both of my hands beside my locker. I looked down and breathed heavily trying to control my anger. I heard Anais footstep entered the room and I just closed my eyes. I have to control myself, I don't want to make the same mistake I did a few nights ago.

"Liam" she said with her soft angel like voice that sent shivers down my spine. I felt her hand over my shoulder and I tensed up because of the sudden touch. I felt electrocuted like Zeus strucked me with his lightning bolt. "Liam, listen to me. You have to control yourself. Just breathe."

"I'm fine" I grunted. I stood up straight making her retreat her touch from mine and felt disappointed. I'm already missing her soft and warm touch. The news about competing against my old school suddenly flushed through my mind and I felt my chest tightened. I threw my gym bag into my locker forcefully that made Anais jumped. I heard her heartbeat raced for a moment. I quickly regretted my action. I promised to protect her not scare her.
