The Glade and Its Glitch: Book 2 Allies or Enemies

Chapter 12

"This is going to be harder than I thought." Glitch paced the floor. "You fools!" he burst out at his guards, "Is the Glade really that hard to find? It's a giant city, based in the forest, filled to the brim with elemental masters. One of which has freaking explosions for her power!"

"But she's a she right?" One of the guards teased, "We scared of a girl Glitch?"

Narrowing his eyes, Glitch snarled at the guard, "If you want to take on a five-foot-two, sassy teenage girl, who likes to make things explode, and wields an axe, be my guest. But know this, I will feel no pity for you. Because we should never underestimate the Glade, they are always changing, and with Skylight newly in charge, they'll be changing more than ever."

Glitch walked up and down the line, the guard who had spoken wasn't grinning anymore. "Huntress may not be the queen anymore, but she still is in a high position, and she can take back the crown at any time. Skylight will look to her for advice. Treat this like Huntress is speaking through another man."

"What about Cassandra and Devin? What are they doing?"

"Our secret weapon. With it, we could finally defeat both the ninja and the Glade." Glitch grinned, his plan really was coming together. Yet there was still so much that needed to happen first.

"But what is it?"

"All in due time. It isn't quite ready yet. But when it is. Ohh boy, I can't wait to see the look on their faces..."

"But when will it be ready? Cassandra and Devin already left for their base. Shouldn't they be working on it right now?" Another guard asked.

"I've sent out a bounty hunter to get them the supplies they need. However, just because they have what they need doesn't mean they'll get it right first try. It's all just an experiment. We're still working out the kinks."

"How old is this guy again? He sure acts like a kid." One guard whispered to the other next to him. Luckily they were far enough down the line Glitch didn't hear.

"He's around fifteen I think. Same age as Supernova and Skylight. Huntress is more like seventeen though."

"So they really are just kids. We're attacking kids? Geez, didn't a spy report that Huntress got shot? She's just a kid."

Glitch turned, "She may be a minor, but she's one of our most dangerous enemies. The ninja don't know we exist. They're not our enemy yet."

"What about Cole? He obviously will know Soar's not on his side."

"We should be able to buy enough time to get Soar out before he wakes up. And if we don't, it's Soar's own fault. He should have made sure he wasn't followed."

"You know that boy's trying his hardest," A person wearing the same uniform as the guards walked in, yet theirs was significantly fancier.

"Commander, you were the one to tell Soar to go to the base, were you not?" Glitch asked turning to Commander.

"Yes," Commander nodded, "Yet I have no control over Soar's actions. All I told him was where and when to contact you."

"You still sent him to that position where Huntress or the ninja could find out about what we're doing."

"You know you're not going to be able to take on Huntress. She's much stronger than you."

"Why? Because she's an elemental master and I'm not? Because she can turn into whatever animal she wishes?"

"Not just because of those," Commander said, "Because she knows how to fight. You've seen her use a staff to fight, she's strong and fast. What weapons do you use?"

"I'm still strong Commander!" Glitch burst out, "I can fight."

Commander made no movements, "Oh? Then why are you acting like a child? You're not strong, Glitch. You're just a boy." Commander turned on their heel and left the room.

"Uhh, Glitch," One of the guards spoke but Glitch cut them off.

"No. Leave, go train. Practice. We have to be ready for the Glade's attack."
