"Andross..." I blurted without even really thinking.
"What?" General Pepper gasped.
"We found out from Star Wolf that he was never truly defeated," I explained. "We suspected as much this whole time. I suppose Star Wolf and that brick monster were the last things standing between us and Andross's true form."
"There's no way Fox is going to beat him all alone..." Krystal sighed.
"He's not alone!" One of the helmsmen exclaimed.
"What?!" General Pepper pressed.
"We're picking up faint traces of another ship in there!" The other helmsmen explained.
"Is it with him or against him?" General Pepper asked.
"It looks like it's helping Fox, Sir," The helmsmen assured him. "But I don't understand why it's signal is so faint if it's right there with him."
"It could be a mirage," General Pepper pointed out, his expression grim.
"A phantom ship," I blurted without even really thinking. "Get me in closer and I might just be able to anchor it back in our dimension."
"What?" Everyone on the bridge seemed confused as to what I had just said.
"I'm afraid we can't get any closer," General Pepper explained once he realized what I had asked.
"Then I'm going back out there," I decided.
"You can't go!" Falco protested. "It's too dangerous! There's still way too many enemy ships out there."
The Great Fox fired off another beam of energy, destroying about twenty or thirty more ships, more just came and took their places.
"Can't you at least try it from here?" Falco asked me.
"Well, someone's rather concerned with the safety of the admiral..." Katt pointed out, casting a sideways glance at him.
"Shut up," Falco grunted. "It's nothing."
"Really now?" Fay interjected.
"I-I've just- It's just logical thinking!" Falco huffed. "I don't want her to risk her life if it isn't necessary."
"Sure..." Katt muttered.
"That's enough, you two," General Pepper ordered them, but he was smiling.
I shook my head and grinned at Falco, taking a deep breath and slowly making my way to the very front of the bridge, stopping directly in front of the window. I held up my hand as if I was using the force and focused all my energy on the phantom ship, squeezing my eyes shut. I attempted to get a read on who was inside as I steadily brought it back into our reality.
"James McCloud!" I gasped, pulling back as the name popped into my mind.
"What?!" Peppy cried in shock. "That's impossible!"
"Is that who was piloting that ship?" General Pepper asked me.
"We'll just have to wait and see," I responded.
"So, that's it?" Krystal asked anxiously. "We just sit here and wait and hope the two of them can take out Andross once and for all."
"I'm afraid that's all we can do," I sighed.
"We can't take much more of this, General Pepper, sir," One of the helmsmen announced. "It takes forever for the weapons to recharge, and enemy ships just keep coming."
