Phil's POV
We got ready to go, Ellie heading first for the exit while I stowed my backpack with everything we needed. Jesse walked to me
"Hi Phil"
"Hi Jesse, just a minute and I'm ready" I said
"Okay, good" he said and then added
"So...you and Ellie?" He said, smiling
"Oh Jesse, you don't know how much" I replied, giggling
"Really? Then what's the half of it?" He asked, crossing his arms and smiling
"I bet Ellie told you how long we've known each other, didn't she?"
"Yes, she told me she has known you for about five years"
"Correct" I replied and saw Jesse's eyes widen
"Wow, that's a really long time" He said
"Yeah" I replied and we laughed
Meanwhile, Ellie called me
"Phil?"
"Are you ready to go?" I asked her but Jesse cut in
"I'll go with you"
"Absolutely not, you have to stay here with Dina" I replied
"She'll be fine, she can take care of herself. You, on the other hand, might need help" He said
"Jesse-"
"I don't care, I'm coming with you" He added
I looked at him and sighed
"Okay Jesse, go get ready"
I leaned against the door with Ellie, waiting for Jesse to be ready
"Whatever happens, we stick together okay? No matter what" Ellie whispered to me.
"I won't leave you alone again Ellie. No matter what" I replied and kissed her forehead
Jesse arrived, and he was ready to come with us
"Jesse are you ready?" I asked
"Very ready" He replied
Then I turned to Ellie
"No matter what, okay?"
"Okay" She replied
"Are you guys okay?" Jesse asked
"Yes, why?" I answered
"You guys are talking funny" He said.
"Umh, it's between me and Phil Jesse, it's okay" Ellie intervened
"Okay, if you say so"
We opened the door and said goodbye to Dina, everyone except Ellie who walked out without even looking at her face
"Please Phil, try to help her stop hating me" Dina whispered to me
"Dina you know, I'm not a miracle worker, but I'll try. I don't guarantee anything" I replied and closed the door
We went outside and it was pouring
"So where are we going?" Jesse asked.
"To the aquarium" I replied
We then began to walk in the rain
"Is there a fucking day when it doesn't pour in this city?" Ellie asked
"I don't know, I'm not from around here" I replied, giggling
We froze as we heard WLF talking, and they were talking about an intruder
"Damn, they're talking about Tommy" I said in a low voice
"Well, let's go get Tommy first" Jesse said
"What about Abby instead? Do we leave her free to be able to escape? No way!" Ellie protested his idea
"But Tommy is a priority!" Jesse replied
"I need revenge instead!" Said Ellie with her hands beginning to shake
"Guys calm down. I'll tell you what: Jesse, you go find Tommy and bring him to safety" I said and then turned to Ellie and took her hands in mine, and added
"You and I will look for Abby instead, okay?"
Ellie and Jesse looked at me and nodded, then Jesse turned away from us on his way. Ellie and I, on the other hand, went the opposite way past some stores. Suddenly we saw WLFs on patrol, so we went up to the second floor of a bookstore and hid behind a shelf
"No matter what" Ellie said looking me in the eye and I nodded
Then she said
"Look! A boat!" And she pointed her finger toward a river that passed by the store
So we got into the boat, I started the motor and we set off. We then arrived at what appeared to be a cafè, but there was a gate that seemed not to open
"Stay here, I'm going to open it" I said to Ellie
"Okay, be careful" She replied
I approached the gate and an infected came up from under the water, grabbing me and trying to bite me, but I chilled it with a gunshot.
"Phil! Are you okay?" Ellie asked worriedly
"Yes, I'm fine" I replied
"Damn, that was close" I whispered to myself
I finally managed to open the gate and we entered it with the boat. We arrived at the ocean, as the aquarium was almost in the open sea, but it was very windy and the water was very rough. I grabbed Ellie to keep her from falling into the water, but a huge wave tipped us back into the water. I swam back to dry land, but realized that Ellie was not with me
"ELLIE!" I yelled out
"Ah fuck it" I shouted and dove back into the water to head for the aquarium.
It took me almost 20 minutes, but I finally got to the aquarium and entered
"Ellie?" I shouted, but she didn't answer
That place was huge, it was to get lost in there, but I wasn't there to twiddle my thumbs
"Ellie! Where are you?" I asked again but received no answer
I arrived at what appeared to be a coffee shop, there was blood everywhere, so I pulled my gun from its holster. I arrived at a door, and blood was pouring out of it, I prepared for the worst. I kicked the door in and entered with my weapon ready to fire, then I saw Ellie sitting on the ground.
"Ellie!" I called to her as I walked toward her, but she did not turn around
I saw that she kept looking at two bodies: a blond boy, Owen; and a girl, who I think was named Mel. Mel lay in a pool of blood, and then I noticed that she was pregnant
"Oh fuck" I whispered to myself
Ellie stood up and hugged me, beginning to shake and cry, then looked into my eyes
"She was fucking pregnant!" She said, and her voice cracked
"Shh, don't cry, it's okay" I said taking her face in my hands and kissing her forehead
We then heard some people coming, it was Jesse and Tommy who came in and saw Ellie clinging to me in despair, so they said nothing. As we left the room to leave, Ellie was still hugging me and not letting go, suddenly Tommy asked me
"What happened?"
"The girl was pregnant," I replied, and both Jesse and Tommy sighed.
Finally, we took the boat, and went back to the theater.
