Phil's POV
We arrived home after a long week's ride, got off the horse, and Tommy was sitting in the steps. As soon as he saw us he ran up to us
"You guys are finally back! Are you all right?"
"Well, considering we're not dead, let's just say yes!" I said, giggling
He hugged us, then Ellie said
"Sorry Tommy, the way I treated you last time, I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay, no problem, you simply acted like a proper wife, trying to protect your husband" Tommy replied, then looked to me
"And you boy, you should be proud to have her by your side, as indeed I have Maria"
"I am" I replied, looking to Ellie
"How about surprising Dina?" Tommy asked
"Well, I don't know, is she by any chance pissed off?" I asked
"She's not pissed off at all, just worried about you"
"Okay, then that's fine" I replied
He went inside and came out again with Dina, covering her eyes
"Hey Dina" I said
"This voice is not new to me" Dina said, still with Tommy's hands covering her eyes
"You think so?" Said Ellie
"Oh my god, you guys are back!" She said, removing her hands from her eyes and running to hug us
"Where the fuck were you guys?" Dina asked
"On a long patrol" Ellie replied
"Yeah" I added
We went into the house and Dina showed us JJ, who, despite the fact that it had been almost three weeks, had grown enough
"Wow, he has grown so much!" I said
"Yeah, all he does is eat" Ellie added
"Just as well, he must be getting as strong as Uncle Phil" Dina said, making me smile
"Effectively I would not be the uncle, but I accept the assignment with great pleasure" I said and we all burst out laughing
--- 6 Months Later ---
"So how is it? Do you like it?" Ellie asked
"Well come on, it doesn't sound bad" I replied
"Let's just say I also have a good teacher"
"Definitely" I said and Ellie got up from the piano
She leaned in and kissed me, we were finally peaceful, we had settled the score with the past, and we were living happily together with Dina. We heard the door open but did not turn around
"Hey guys, I see you are happy" Dina said
Ellie turned around and saw her
"Oh sorry, we didn't hear you come in"
"That's okay, how about coming to eat?"
"Dina, have you learned how to cook?" I asked in amazement
"That's right"
I looked to Ellie and said jokingly
"What do you say? Let's go be guinea pigs for Dina's cooking?"
"I don't mind the idea" She replied and we went downstairs to eat
Dinner was really good, I couldn't believe that Dina had learned to cook. After we finished eating, Ellie and I went to our room, but she moved to her study
"Where are you going?" I asked
"I have to finish something" She replied
"Okay, see you later"
After about 30 minutes, the silence of the room was broken by Ellie coming in all happy
"What's going on?" I asked
"Come with me"
"Okay, if you say so" I replied and got out of bed
She led me to the door of her study
"Now close your eyes" She said
"Is this by any chance another one of your surprises?" I replied, closing my eyes
"I won't tell you"
She led me inside her study and sat me down at what I thought was her desk
"Well now open them and tell me what you think"
I opened my eyes and was impressed, she had made portrait of me, her, Joel, Dina, Jesse, JJ, Tommy and Maria. It was amazing, we were all in the same drawing
"Ellie-"
"Do you like it?" She asked
"IF I LIKE IT? IT'S A FUCKING MASTERPIECE!" I replied, making her jump for joy
What do you think? Shall we frame it and hang it in the living room?" She asked
"Definitely yes" I replied
Then I turned to her and looked into her eyes
"I love you"
"Me too"
We called Dina to show her, and she too was amazed
"Ellie, but did you really do it?" She asked
"Yes"
"What can I say, my compliments"
"Thank you Dina" Ellie replied
Then Dina turned to me
"You have a great wife"
"I know"
"Good night guys" She said, and went downstairs
Ellie and I went into the room and got into bed, facing each other
"Ellie, you are amazing, I love you"
"I love you too babe"
"You really like calling me that huh?" I said, giggling
"Yeah, I really like it a lot"
Then we changed the subject
"I don't know what the future holds, but whatever happens, we stick together" Ellie said.
"No matter what" I replied.
"Why are you worried about the future?" I added
"I don't know, I hope not, but I have a feeling that our adventure is not over here" She replied
"Maybe you're right, but until then we can't know, so let's not worry and live our lives peacefully" I said kissing her forehead
"Okay, it's just that-"
"I know you're still thinking about what happened with Abby, but don't worry, we won't be caught unprepared" I cut her off, putting my index finger on her lips
"Okay" She replied, and we fell asleep together
