━━━━━━━━━━━ THE FAST PACE BLEW DAENA'S HAIR in front of her face, her legs carrying her across the halls of the castle. She swiftly dodged a maid, just barely hitting the tray in the woman's hands. She turned her head around quickly, yelled a quick apology and continued running. The maid simply sighed, shaking her head.

Once the nine-year-old girl made it outside, she slowed her pace until she was standing before the Weirwood tree. Under it was a small bundle of silver hair and fur. She grinned and quietly made her way to the other side of the tree in the attempts of scaring the boy. She quietly jumped up and climbed up a few branches, keeping her touches and moves light and silent. She gripped her red dress tightly, trying not to trip on it.

As she made it around the tree, just above him, she stopped. Aemond was sitting there silently, playing with a small blue flower. He looked sad, and Daena suddenly thought it was a terrible idea to try and scare him. On top of the thick branch, she went to try and turn back around when her foot slid from the icy tree. She fell to the ground with a loud smack, her hand hitting the floor uncomfortably.

Aemond turned to her in shock, his lips parted. "What are you doing?"

Daena winced as she sat up from the frozen ground,
holding her wrist. "Scaring you. Did it work?" she asked, sending him a small pained smile.

Aemond scowled and helped her sit next to him on top of one of the furs he'd gotten. He then took her hand in his, inspecting it with a gentle touch. "It's not broken. You should be more careful, you're going to get yourself killed otherwise."

Daena waved him off and settled in better. "I'm too pretty to die this young, Aemond." She then noticed the basket next to the boy, and a smile was on her face in an instant. "You brought food?"

Aemond scrunched his eyebrows and handed her a piece of cake. "Of course I did. I know you too well to think you wouldn't be cranky and hungry after spending time with your brothers."

Daena took the cake with a soft smile. "They're not so bad." She then pursed her lips when seeing the look on his face. "Okay, they're not so bad all the time." Something flashed in Aemond's eyes and he looked down. Daena furrowed her brows and reluctantly set her cake down. "What is it?"

"Nothing," he mumbled, but the way his eyes lingered on the printed dragon on her dress made it clear what was bothering him. Daena's face fell in realization.

"Did they say something to you again?"

"It was nothing." Aemond began distracting himself with the fur that was covering his lower body.
