Don't give up

"Captain i can get a view from up here!"
"Bishop it's no safe up there!"

I didn't even bothered to put an harness on, i just started climbing the ladder of the big wheel. My instinct took over and i couldn't hear my team telling me to get down. Once i got up there, i started looking for people stuck in the maze. I couldn't really see anything because of the smoke so i continued climbing till i couldn't anymore.

After a minute, i heard people screaming my name and, a second later, i found myself screaming, holding on at the ladder for dear life. Everyone started panicking.

*Meanwhile at the station*

Ben and I were doing some inventory. I knew he wanted me to talk to him about me and Maya but i knew that, if i did, i would just start crying and i really didn't want that. So we just worked in silence for about an hour when he got a call.

"Hello?.. Vic what is it?"

"What's happening?" I asked a bit worried

"It's Maya.. She's at the top of a big wheel. She almost fell she doesn't have a harness or anything"

"We-we got to go" I said almost screaming, tears starting to roll down my cheeks.

"We're coming hang on!" Ben said

I was already running to my Porshe. Ben screamed to me to get in the passenger seat and i did what he asked. I knew i couldn't drive in that state. I was almost sobbing by the time we got there.

*back to Maya's pov*

Time seemed to stop. I looked at the sky i wasn't even afraid anymore. I mean what did i have to loose anyway. My job? Gone. My wife? She's probably gonna leave me soon anyway.
My arms started to hurt and i knew i wouldn't be able to hang on for too long. Then,  a voice caught my attention and I looked down

"Maya!!" She was screaming. I could see the pain and worry in her eyes.
"Hang on hang on please!" She was full on sobbing.

It took a minute for my brain to come back to reality.

"I love you" i screamed, forgetting about all the hate i felt towards her. I noticed for the first time the hot tears on my cheeks.

"Don't-" She tried to get closer but Ben stopped her so she wouldn't get hurt. "This isn't goodbye Maya! I swear if you leave me.." she fell to her knees, sobbing and i couldn't bare seeing her in this state.

"I'm sorry" I tried to yell but it turned out more like a whisper. I felt my hands losing their grip on the ladder and then everything went black.

I woke up feeling lost. After a minute, i was able to open my eyes and they landed on Carina. We were at the hospital. She was crying, her head in her hands. I felt really weak but i was able to put my hand on her knee. She looked at me, her eyes red and puffy, she looked like a mess.

"Maya" She whispered, kissing me. I returned the kiss. I was still in shock that i survived this.

"I'm sorry Carina. I'm so sorry." I started crying.

"I know my love" Carina cried with me. "Don't ever do that again"

"I won't" i said, whipping her tears.

"You promise?" she asked

"I promise"

In this moment, i realized that no job was as important as Carina was for me. She's the most precious thing in my life and i'll do everything to keep her by my side.

I wrote that in 10 minutes..
Anyway i really hope they'll get better after this episode.

It's actually starting in 20 minutes so I'm gonna go prepare my tissues. Good luck✌️
