24. Fake Love

After staying with Lexie the past few days and nights as she mostly slept, Jin was up making breakfast for himself and Lexie. Jin didn't have clothes to change into and Lexie wouldn't let him leave so he was wearing an oversized t-shirt that Lexie had tucked away with the sweatpants he had on that night. When they had gotten back the night of the attack she said she couldn't keep wearing the clothes she was wearing when she was attacked and started immediately stripping, causing Jin some discomfort as he turned away.

Jin wasn't really sure why she had an effect on him. He still had feelings for Celine but he wanted to be someone's one and only and he knew that her heart already belonged to some of the other members.

Lexie came into the kitchen, plopped herself down in a chair at the table, not offering to help even though it was her kitchen. It had been three days since the attack but they had ordered out food the two days before. Jin thought it odd but just chalked it up to cultural differences. "That smells delicious. What are you making?"

Jin smiles at her. "Just kimchi, eggs, and rice. Nothing fancy." He sets the food down in front of her and she makes a face that he can't quite decipher but somehow looks similar to disgust. It only lasts a second so Jin thinks maybe he imagined it because she immediately starts eating.

"This is adequate but I bet Celine wouldn't like it. It's a little bit spicy." She just shrugs at Jin's confusion.

Celine had never said she didn't like spicy food and he had even seen her enjoy it in the past. Plus, he had used a mild kimchi. He also knew that everyone found his food delicious. He decided just to shrug it off and enjoy the day with Lexie. She had clung to him as soon as they had gotten back to Namjoon's place and he had gotten a bit lost in her large brown eyes as tears streamed down her face at what she had just gone through. He always had a soft spot for damsels in distress and his mother had raised him to respect women.

**Flashback**

That night the six of them had approached the shadow in the darkness, still holding onto an unconscious Lexie in the middle of a moonlit graveyard. As soon as the creature saw them approach, it had dropped her at a grave and turned to face them.

Despite that it was the one that got away, it was no bigger or intimidating than the others. It had just gotten lucky. There were still the red eyes and yellowed sharpened teeth that the others possessed but they all knew that it stood no chance against the six of them.

Jungkook approached first, ready to go to battle alone if he had to as Jin ran to Lexie to see if she was still breathing and if he could get her to wake up. He knew that Celine would kill them if they let her best friend die. As the others approached the shadow creature, allowing their own shadows to come out and eat the creature alive, he was focused on getting Lexie to wake up enough to look him in the eye.

Jin missed most of what had happened to the creature but he could hear the shill screams and saw the creature being devoured by multiple shadows of different hues of black and blue. As the battle ended, Lexie's eyes fully opened to gaze into his. Once she was aware of her surroundings, she grabbed onto Jin's sleeve desperately, pulling herself to him. Telling her it was okay and everything was going to be okay, she just dug into his sleeve tighter, moving her body so that it was fully against his. She wouldn't let go as she piled into a car with him, Namjoon, and Hoseok. Hoseok drove them to Namjoon's place where he had left his car and they all went to catch their breath and figure out how they were going to approach everything with Celine.

As they all talked, Lexie plopped herself down on Jin's lap and buried her face into his neck, not offering any input to the situation. Not thinking anything of it since she had just had such a traumatic experience, Jin put his arms around her as he discussed things with the others. He could feel her body heat against him and it was causing a reaction. All he wanted to do was play with her hair, rub her back, and comfort her through it. They decided that Namjoon and Jin would bring Lexie to Celine's place so she could see for herself that she was safe. Lexie didn't argue and willingly followed along, clinging to Jin the entire way.
