I sighed happily as I closed the door of my locker. Despite my rough morning, school proved to be the perfect escape. I had made many friends and established myself with the "populars" and school didn't prove to be as tough as a I thought.
I pushed onto my lock so that it would lock and when I looked up, I came face to face with... well more like face to shoulder with Luke.
"Luke! Hey! I didn't know you're locker would be right next to mine. Guess we'll be locker buddies for this entire year... Thank god though, I was actually worried the person next to me would be a smelly serial killer looking guy or something!" Despite the warmth in my tone, for some reason Luke had a very guarded expression and it seemed so different from the carefree person I met in first period.
"Luke is something wrong...?"
He hesitantly parts his lips as if he is unsure if he should speak or not and he carefully reaches out a hesitant hand. As soon as he got close enough for me to feel the warmth radiating of his fingers I had an instinct to flinch out of the way.
I truly wish I hadn't. The expression on his face was as if someone dear to him had passed and no matter how hard I would try, it was an irreparable expression of pain and regret. "I'm sorry." I whispered hesitantly... There was nothing that I could say about the situation yet sorry seemed to be the only thing that could come through my teeth.
He shook his head slowly and gave me a painful smile. "no... don't be, It's all my fault. I'm sorry." is a low voice that that was all that I could catch before his muttering became impossible to be heard.
Confused I took my only escape option which was to run and hide. " You are so weird, I'll see you at school tomorrow then locker bud!" and left.
The pain on his face followed me everywhere I went that day and I just couldn't get the sight out of my mind. I didn't understand the reason behind his pain however I knew that no matter what, I would try to understand it and be there for him when he's ready.
Such a sight seemed to bring a deep pang so close to my heart that I had an urge to just rub away the pain in my chest. No one deserved to live with such a dark secret haunting them.
Dinner and the rest of the day at the orphanage passed with a blur. No one bothered me that night and I was glad no one asked about school. School was the only reality and enjoyment I had. The escape from the orphanage which I began to see as a hellhole. I ate "dinner", did my homework and blew out my candle before sleeping. Yup, candles, the headmistress believed that candles and a traditional way of life would help develope our character. So basically, she wanted to keep the money to herself.
That night I slunk into my bed and before my eyes closed, I saw the pain once more that had existed in Luke's eyes and felt a strange itching at my wrist.
I went to scratch where it was irritating to find a think pale line that rose up above the skin around it.

WOAH! hopefully I was descriptive in my last sentence enough to provide enough of a hint on what had happened to her. :)
So I've been frustrated recently, just a phase where everything seems to suck so I guess this is where wattpad came in :). Thanks to the 12 people that read my last chapter! I predicted 5 so I guess that's an improvement.
The idea to this story was one that I came up with years ago and I guess I finally decided to publish it on Wattpad so it'd be great if you guys could comment and fan. :)
SOOOO
guess the relationship between Luke and Melissa :)
