Chapter 3

The next morning I woke up with my head spinning. The whole night flashed in front of my eyes. I remembered seeing Ember with my brother outside when Jordan carried me to my room. Wait! My brother with Ember?! I immediately rushed to Xavier's room when i remembered.
[speaking norwegian]
"XAVIER!! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!!" I blasted entering my brother's room.
"What the hell is wrong with you?? How could you?! You broke our first and only rule! How...how could you lay your toxic hands on Ember?" The power in my voice died being replaced with pain. I knew all the hearts he broke and how heartless he could get. I couldn't let that happen to my best friend.

"Idk what's the big deal. I didn't do anything to her calm down." My brother answered calmly.

"Calm down?! Xavier what were you thinking? Were you drunk or smt?"

"I...I couldn't resist ok? The way she looks at me...the way she talks...she's not like any other girl..."
Silence filled the room. A part of me saw something changed in him, he never talked about any other girl like that, but the other part of me was thinking this is crap.

"So you're telling me you're catching feelings or what?" At this point I took a seat because I couldn't believe my brother could possibly ever catch feelings and also because my head was still spinning from the other night.
"I don't know Kass..." he ran his hands through his dark hair in frustration "I just can't get the whole night out of my head"
"Hah...I suggest blacking out on the kitchen floor." We laughed.
"Ohh, little sis getting drunk for the first timee" he said in a baby voice "so cute"
I grabbed a pillow and tossed it at him "oh shut up!" We both started laughing. There was a long silence in which we put our thoughts together.

He got up "we should get ready to go to the barn."
I honestly didn't want to go at all after this long night but didn't want to stay in bed and think about how caring was Jordan last night.

We arrived at the stables pretty late so I quickly got Honey out of her stall.
"You're not gonna ride Smartje?" Xavier asked me as he was brushing Onyx.
"I'll take her out for a walk later."
"Oh, so no jumping with your favourite trainer?" he smirked
I smiled "I'm still tired but I promise tomorrow."

On my way to the tack room I saw Ember washing Callista
"Oh, hi b*tch! Why aren't you in the arena?"
"Giving Callista a day off. You?"
"Ohh, I'm going on a trail with Honey wanna come? You can take Arctic."
"Umm yeah sure! Just the two of us right?"
"Yes" I said grinning "I knew you didn't like people but not this much" we both laughed.

The ride to the beach was very chill until Ember pushed me to JUMP. Honey has never jumped before and besides that I had the frickin' western saddle on! Anyway I was surprised to see that Honey really had potential and gave her best.

The next morning I woke up to my brothers voice:
"Kass cmonn wake up!! We have a lot to do today" Xavier entered my room. I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the time.
"It's 6 am Xavier, what the hell?" I groaned. 
"Shut up and get dressed. We're doing some cross-country today." He left my room leaving the door wide open. God, he knew how to piss me off.
"You have 10 minutes!!" He shouted going down the stairs. "Oh, and call Ember to wake her up, she's coming too." I sighed getting out of the comfy bed. I took my phone and dialed her number.

📲: "beep...beep...beep..." her sleepy voice murmured something "mmyah..."
📲: "wake up. We're training with my brother today."
📲: "what? Why so early? And why do I have to come?"
📲: "oh, and bring your body protector. We're doing cross-country."
📲: "wha..?"
📲: "Don't ask, I don't know what's going on either" I laughed and then hung up.

It was 6:30 am when we arrived at the horses.
"Ok so, tack up Diamond I want us to be ready by 7." Xavier said opening Callista's stall. Ember was running late so he offered to tack her up.
I don't know how Xavier did it but we really started riding at 7.

I started warming Diamond up trotting and cantering between the obstacles so that he could get used to them as well.
We started off with some small logs. I could feel the excitment Diamond had. The truth was we haven't done cross-country in a long time due to the bad weather we had all winter.

After warming up properly my brother showed us a course with 12 obstacles.
"Ok, Kass did you remember the course?"
"Yeah. I'm ready" I could feel Diamond getting tense. He started cantering and I put him on a circle to calm him down a little. Then I rised myself into a half seat and off we went. The first 2 obstacles were a complete disaster. Diamond saved my ass the both times. I heard Xavier say something but i couldn't understand him because of  Diamond's heavy breath and his hooves hitting the ground.

Of course, Diamond had to show me that I messed up  there so after that he gave me some nice bucks.

The rest of the course went really well concidering this was the first corss-country course in months. I am really proud of Diamond that he didn't even blink at the last water jump. As I let Diamond catch his breath Xavier started explaining what I could've done better and all that stuff.
"...all in one you did pretty good Kass" Xavier wrapped it up giving Diamond a pat
"Thanks!"
"Ok, Ember your turn."
Unfortunately, for Ember things didn't go as planned...
